    winch drum brake

And this is for the duce winch, right? Probably nothing like that on the LU-4. If there is, I need to get mine working.

    Seabee markings

Here is a link to a USN Seabee equipment management instruction. Pages 122 thru 128 give some insight to current marking procedures. Notice that the NSN numbers for the stencil are for only an 8" and a 4" stencil, not a left and right version of each size. Also calls out glossy yellow yellow...

I just fired off an e-mail the the Seabee Museum in Gulfport to see if they knew of any wat to get my hands on an oil board stencil.

    Seabee markings

I have a metal Seabee stencil with the correct logo (Sorry, the oil board stencil currently available is not correct) but it is not the right scale. I can make a high res scan and e-mail it to you and you can use the pattern to make your own stencil. Can you measure your logo and give us the...

    Loops?

RE: loops This is a M37 CDN that was cannibalized by the last owner. It did have the hard top, fender mounted heater, 251 etc.. Thanks Garbee.

    Seabee markings

Here is a nice current photo of a MK28 truck (MTVR) with Seabee logo and this is the passenger door. Notice it has the left facing logo. The photo comes from a Navy Newstand article. Here is the link: http://www.news.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=5798

    Cudos to BigBee

A big thank you to BigBee (Brian Morrison) for a great transaction and all of the help with my buying his '53 M37. Brian offered his truck for sale at the perfect time as I was looking to buy a nice M37. Now here is the cool part! Brian listed the truck as running and as of recently the truck...

OH, IN, IL, KY, MI, WI, MN, (and beyond) going to Aberdeen??

Bellaire, Eh? Well, sorry to hear that (LOL) I graduated from Ferry. Go Riders! Ok, enough of that! I live north of Delaware off US23, but I am a road construction/permit inspector for the County Engineer's office so I am very familiar with just about any where in the county. The Dallas Pike...

Dont see how you could lose if your close..

How much do you want to bet the M43 has a 251 in it? Maybe the M37 too. Not hard to imagine with that maple leaf on the hood of the 43 and being so close to the border.

    Alternator Vs. Generator

Has any one tried or have experience with the solid state regulators that replace the mechanical ones? Would it be worth it to switch out the old one? More or less reliable? BigB had to replace a few components on the M37 I bought from him due to a faulty regulator. It smoked the coil in the...

    Seabee markings

This a ca 1966 photo I found some where (Maybe here, I have no clue) but this is not a SeaBee truck. The MSTS on the door stands for Military Sea Transportation Service so this was just a straight USN truck, not SeaBee. I think on the far left side of the pic you can see a small white...

OH, IN, IL, KY, MI, WI, MN, (and beyond) going to Aberdeen??

RE: Meeting point A stop in St C Vs. Wheeling would be much better as far as a convoy goes. Convoy traffic in and out of Ohio I-70 exit 218 or 220 in St. C for food, lodging, fuel etc.. would be much easier than the highly congested Wheeling area. I can't go to Aberdeen but I would be honored...

    Hattiesburg 5 Tons

I remember going to Shelby for field exercises when I was in NMCB 74. If I remember right (this was about 15 years ago) there was another place south of there on I-49 with a whole yard of what looked like Russian military trucks. Any one remember or know about this?

    Hattiesburg 5 Tons

I have just got to ask. I have seen so many posts like this one mentioning "or severly water damaged?. I am going to assume Katrina is the culprit, but my real question is how did this happen? I would hope that the CO's of military units have a bit more fore sight then Ray Nagan and there...

    ATTENTION: [IMG] tags

I think the best reason not to use the BB img code is so that the images won't go away if some one's image hosting goes away or they delete the images say two years from now. Any images uploaded to the SS server are going to always be there. Much more reliable. But just out of curiosity, how...

Bad news at Roman's Surplus in PA

Very interesting thread. I agree with JDToumanian, But... and there is always a "but" I am sure you never even pondered what got scrapped to make those half tracks? I also collect antique single cylinder farm engines (AKA "hit & miss" engines). These engines were made by the thousands by...
