Can anyone identify the winch pictured and perhaps provide specs? I'm helping a friend with a high-speed tractor and it's being given to me but I need to know more about it before removing and finding a use for it. It's a big sucker! Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback! I'll have to look at the paperwork again but I believe it's a 1964 model. Turbo multi-fuel, sprag front and rebuild tags for 1988.
I'll do a search for flipping the headlights, but feel free to share any tips on that!
Picked up an M35 recently in trade for stereo system I wasn't using anymore. It had sat outside for about the past 9 years and looks pretty sad, but after towing home with our Mack CS250 and tinkering with the IP it roared to life. Oh, the fuel pump was shot so I made a simple pick-up using...
Thanks clinto, found this article once I knew what to look for: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=12994&highlight=hydraulic+head+injector+pump
I'll give that a shot and let y'all know what happens.
Okay, been working the last several weekends to bring home a deuce I recently traded for. Classic "ran when parked" nine and a half years ago, although I remember when my friend bought it from GSA and he drove it around quite a bit before parking. It has the White multi-fuel turbo engine and...
Sorry, my mistake as the only standard color they have besides teal is blue. I've been building out a gauge panel for my vintage semi tractor and have been looking a Nordskog and Cyberdyne digital gauges, and Cyberdyne offers blue, red, green and amber versions of their gauges but Dakota is the...
Historical construction equipment? Oh my, you've opened a can of worms! I'm currently the president of the Sunshine State Chapter of the Historical Construction Equipment Association and am also the founder of the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Enthusiasts, plus admin the web site and forum for...
That used to be very true with their older products but they've really improved their vacuum-flourescent displays in the last few years. I've been able to see the new green displays in some vintage class-8 trucks and the motorcycle pods, all in full Florida sun, and there weren't any of the old...
Since I'll have both cabs off for the swap the rig will get a complete re-spray with desert tan and I'll duplicate all military markings and stenciling. May swap the beds too as it has factory dual tanks, one on each side. I'm also leaning towards keeping the Silverado's 4-headlight grill...
Just a quick update for the interested: After hunting around off and on for a replacement cab I finally got the bright idea to post on craigslist in the area for a straight rust-free cab. Ended up scoring an entire '86 Silverado for $400 from a guy in Oviedo who removed the engine from it...
Do you have a part number for that Carter pump from NAPA? I was just there today and all they had was a Carter solenoid-type pump for $59 but I'm hesitant to try it.
Well, I got my towbar fabbed up Thursday after work and then drove up to Stockbridge after work Friday to get the wayward CUCV. After a good nights rest went over to the body shop and hooked everything up for the long tow home, which ended up taking a little over 12 hours to cover about 450...
Stratham is up by Lawrenceville which is where the truck started out before the big flip. Now it's about 60 miles south of there in Stockbridge. If the other haul offer doesn't work out I could possible do it next weekend as I have to go to Lawrenceville to pick up my rally VehiCROSS to bring...
Glad I could help! :P
Tomorrow evening I'll be fabbing up a square-tube version of the military medium towbar, minus the extending feature. Managed to make my own adapters using off-the-shelf components from the local Tractor Supply, which look very nice and are over built as well. Then...
I'm always interested in making a few bucks, LOL! It's currently located just south of Atlanta in Stockbridge, GA. Shoot me an offer, but keep in mind that it will have a salvage title.
Not sure of the specific brands, but half came from Wal-Mart and the other from Tractor Supply. I usually keep an eye out when they have sales and will pick up a pair based on having a high working-load rating as most advertise their breaking rating. I'll usually get a new set each year to...
And for the rest of the story...
I originally purchased this M1028 from brtruckparts on eBay a while back and flew out to Kansas City to drive it home. The seller had converted it to 12V and installed a new battery, starter and alternator. The journey home to Florida started out fine and a...
