So, after lots of poking around and searching, I need to post this here. Were these radio tray lights standard? Or did someone just decide to mod the tray in mine?
Mine came from Benecia, CA, where I actually used to live (nice coincidence) and even though it has been in WA for a while, everywhere I thought I would find rust there has been none, so hopefully that will help. If nobody else chimes in about the LMC seals I will go ahead and order them...
I searched and read a couple of threads, but was wondering about some things and if there is any new and amazing advice out there.
Going to replace the seals in a few days, and was wondering if LMC is the way to go, or if there is a better product out there.
Also wondering if there is...
You drove an hour and a half to my place last Sunday, I gave you a rad deal on a CUCV antenna base because you said you were a steel soldier. I totally forgot your username. Wanted to PM ya. Hope you see this.
Thanks twice rick. On closer inspection the lines do look to be tweaked, and they have scale all over them. It actually looks like one of them was cut there is just a flimsy looking tube attached, though this might be normal. I will try to get some pictures soon. Also, three of the isolators are...
It doesn't sound anything like a gasser with tapping lifters. On start it doesn't sound any different than after it has been running for a while. The shop is diesel specific, even big rigs and marine stuff, they have a second shop in the same business that does nothing but fuel injection work...
Just runs like utter ****. My first diesel. I wouldn't have known. Quotes from the shop: "Removed noisy injectors #2 and #4, bad spary patterns and and low pressures. Compression test on cyl #2, #4, and #6, 380/420/400. This tells us that most likely other injectors are bad. Suggest all...
Looks like it will become DIY. Just drove it home. All the injectors tested bad as well. I can't afforf what they want in labor by a long shot. So I am going to order up some injectors and a pump and give it a shot, see if maybe I can get some help, as I am not a mechanical guy. Capable for...
Nice work Robert. I guess I should post some drawings soon. I am kind of doubly screwed because I ended up with a CUCV with glow plug bypass, aftermarket voltmeter, and about 8 apparently functionless toggle switches all over the place.
I am making mine all brand new out of sheetmetal to be...
The VDO's I am going to use arent terribly more expensive than the Sunpro's, and they make a tach with the correct RPM range. I used to drive old big rigs and I am kind of gay for gauges all matching and whatnot.
Also need some help finding some thing elegant to the GEN 1 and GEN 2 lights. I know they need to retain the stuck bulbs, but I would really love to turn them into a surface mount idiot light if anyone has any ideas. I know the subject has been beat to death, but it is a major obstacle for my plans.
Working on the dashboard and am going to go with VDO Cockpit International gauges, which are available in 12V or 24V. I am assuming the gauges are 12V but can't find it in the TMs. Am I correct?
Good advice all around. The 14 bolt stinks imho just because of weight and ground clearance. Is there a huge difference between that and the 60? I like the whole redundancy aspect of having essentially the same thing front and rear, which as far as I know rules the 14 bolt out. I will probably...
So, axle rebuilds and traction aids are coming up soon on the priority list. I had a random idea to swap to Dana 60's front and rear instead of rebuilding the 10-bolts. Anything I should know? Bad idea? Great idea? Compatibility issues out back? I would like this to be as straightforward as...
