If you really feel you have been wronged I would suggest posting on the Benz World forum. It has much large readership on all models of mogs. If the situation is as you represent, its highly unlikely that this is not the first incident. I find the Steel Soldiers participants are new to Mogs (as...

Wow a olive drab Stanley hydraulic water pump. I get kick out of all the specialty tools that Stanley sells that will plug into the SEE, they are obviously tilted towards utility bucket trucks and servicing railroad tracks. They build a small hoe ram for bobcats, I wonder if they offer a big...

Great, I think he still has a few on Ebay. I would like a copy as I would like to add the pin out sketches on the connectors I have encountered, add in whatever wiring we can trace on the missing diagnostic harness (like the shunt resistor on the main power lead that appears to be a problem...

I hear what MSMOG is saying about a private sale but usually a pulled listing on high ticket item on Ebay is a sign that the seller set the reserve too low and is worried that there isn't a bidding war so they get stuck selling at the reserve.

I got the reminder a few hours in advance that the auction would soon end and then when I went to look at the posting I got redirected to auction closed notice.

Well the trencher auction on Ebay is closed since the owner pulled the listing seven hours before the end time so per the rules we can now talk about it. I expect at least few folks are disappointed unless someone arranged a private sale. It is interesting to see that at least one of these...

another topic is tires. I assume you are aware of Expeditions Imports deals on new Contis? Quite the deal.

I have the reportedly rare optional Wain Roy Ripper bucket on mine. Its a lot gnarlier than the standard ripper hook that came with the SEEs. It works well on fractured ledge and useless on solid granite. A Steel Soldiers member posted a article about this bucket in the Misc Technical manuals...

The trencher must be interesting to work on as in all my research I have never seen any manual or reference to a manual for the trencher variant. I do like that the trencher come with bull dozer blade. Trenchers are pretty well useless up in NH. With the local glacial till, the soils is...

Because of its location I expect they rot out as if they are used in areas with salt, its likely that salt from boots cause the case to rot out. Mine has some rot started. Not worth $600 but worth $200 to me. They also would make a nice cab heater for work van.

I have seen several Unimog and Case Variants in the Northeast advertised with diesel fired circulating hot water heaters. If the rig is used frequently they leave the heaters running, otherwise they are just turned out a few hours in advance. I expect synthetic oil, transmission fluid, gear oil...

My SEE also has the toolbox. The piano hinge is rusted so it doesn't open very well. When I install the air dryer on the brake system I need a spot for a charge air tank. The tool box location is perfect spot for the tank.

Those wood gas engines have some fundamental limitations, if there is no alternative fuel and people are willing to maintain them they can be made to work but the devil is in the details. The prime gas produced is carbon monoxide which has low btu value and poor octane number so it works best in...

I have been tempted to do exactly what you suggest, removing the entire connector and harness associated with it but was hoping the electrical schematic would allow me to make sure that it wouldn't impact anything. I speculate that the electrical schematic poster was what was shipped with the...

FYI, you appear to have located the shunt resistor for the diagnostic harness. This harness is not shown on the electrical diagram and is not covered by the electrical diagnosis section of the manuals. I have seen occasional glimpses of some components in the parts manuals as well as the parts...

Yes we made it to Arlington to watch the hourly change over of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. The tour guide pointed out the tower from the Maine. She also mentioned that they are going to expand Arlington right down to the Air Force Memorial. There is a women's veterans memorial...

On non SEE related note; I was guardian for a WW2 vet (my 96 year old dad) to Washington DC on an "Honor Flight" http://www.honorflight.org/ this weekend from Maine this past weekend. We had 42 men and 4 women WW2 vets on the flight. We toured all the service memorials in DC on Saturday in a...

BTW, where do you get the replacement ether canister for the cold starting system? Is it a common source item? I haven't tried buying one but someone at some point mentioned that NAPA could get them albeit they aren't cheap.

I agree, if anyone actually gets a parts SEE that they don't resurrect, getting dimensions on these components is the first step. I think this link may be a start http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/universal_outer_tie_rod_ends.asp and I expect there is similar chart for the ball joints on the...
