    M1008 Plow Question

I'd like to see your set up - how about those pics?

    nv4500 swap

One tranny I'm looking at on Craigslist says it comes off of a 454. Will that bell housing bolt up to the 6.2 or will I need a different one?

    nv4500 swap

I was under the impression that speed was limited more by the 4.56 axles than the lack of overdrive... but maybe you're talking about an M1009?

    nv4500 swap

Found a lot of info here as well: High Impact - NV4500 5spd Looks like a spendy proposition though.

    nv4500 swap

Thanks for the info: Forgive my ignorance, but somebody school me on this - what is "DD", "MT or GR Starter", "bb", "sb", etc. Thx. Also - how critical is it to find the older 4500? Sounds like the newer one will fit ok? I am looking at one that is supposed to be out of a '96 Chevy 1-ton...

    nv4500 swap

I see that the nv4500 for GM 4x4 gas engine is 32 spline output. Is it different for diesel - and does it matter? I've heard that I will need to use an adapter or a 208 transfer case instead of the 205.

    nv4500 swap

I know much has been discussed here about swapping out the T400 for a nv4500. I'm considering doing that. What's a fair price for the nv4500? I'm seeing them ranging from $500 - $1200 depending on how much you get with it. If I remember right, I'm looking for '94 and older - is that required...

I got my part numbers here as well.

    Installing power steering belt...

I know this seems simple but... I'm replacing belts on the 1028 (one of 'em shredded) and the power steering belt does not fit. The new belt is the Napa version of a 7448 but it seems to be inches too short. I have loosened the power steering pump per the Unit Maintenance Manual. Can anyone...

    Won't always start

This has happened 3 or 4 times now: I'll drive to work in the morning (10 miles) and then the truck will sit all day and start fine for the drive home. But on occasion I will run into town on my lunch break. I will drive 4 to 6 miles and then shut it off. When I am ready to go home 30 to 45...

How do I install trailer brake control?

I already put the civilian receiver hitch on - fit perfectly and the receiver comes out right under the rear bumper so I can keep the original pintel hitch in place. I haven't tried the spare tire yet either and I actually took the arm off when I put the hitch on so I guess it's not going back...

How do I install trailer brake control?

A 7-flat pin it is. Thank you all.

How do I install trailer brake control?

I need to install a trailer brake control but I am still using the 12-pin connector with an adapter I made. Is there a way to wire trailer brakes into the 12-pin NATO or am I better off converting to a 7-pin trailer plug?

    New Tires

I'm sure this has been covered here before but I didn't find anything searching... New tires needed for the M2018. It has 235-85-R16's on it right now. One blew out the other day and I'm looking for at least 2 new ones. Any recommendations? I need something with a good weight rating - lots...

    Got my treadwright tires in....

What kind of load rating do they have? I'm looking for a set for my wood truck.

    Taillight Harness

One of the wires in the taillight harness broke off right at the rubber plug. No way to fix it as far as I can tell. Anyone have leads on where to find a new one? NAPA said they aren't available any more.

    A couple or 3 questions

The idea of adding oil to the fuel was to prolong the life of the seals in the fuel pump.

    A couple or 3 questions

I bought my M1028 back in March and made the trip home without incident. In the last few weeks I've noticed a lot of squealing belt noise when its cold. After 10 - 15 minutes at highway speeds it diminishes quite a bit but its still there. The belt to the driver's side alternator was loose so...
