Not sure how common trailer theft is once it is hooked up to the TV, I would say almost all occur when it is not coupled in storage. When I go to someplace I try to find the outer edge of the parking lot and then place trailer between my truck and another object. Usually less cars around to hide...
One of the best systems is using a York AC compressor on a drive belt going to a tank. I know a lot of off-road guys mount their ARB or Viair compressor under hood on the inner fender also.
Not sure of PA, I hear they are a PITA to register things there. In CA for me to register as Homebuilt I need to bring in receipts and detailed descriptions of parts used. This is so they can put a proper rating on the trailer.
I have been running a 10# CO2 tank for my DD/ weekend wheeler. I want to add OBA system and was looking at the Viair 480C but it is only 1.3 CFM @ 90psi rated. I might have to look into the PUMA products and reviews. The C)2 works great but since i got a lower end model with fixed regulator I...
HMMWV 5th wheel.... I just got the flyer on it yesterday to my office then saw the picture on here last night. Here is a link to their site.
Fifth Wheel Tactical Trailer FTT
Sounds a lot like my recovery from Nellis a couple weeks ago. 563 miles and 13 hours later. I also stopped to check bearing temp a couple of times. Went smoothly like yours although my trailer is an A2 and doesnt look as nice as yours.
quit getting in my head
Love your build and seems we have a lot of the same ideas. I finally picked up my trailer and will eventually get to work on it. I will continue to watch your work and possibly use some of your ideas on mine. I can't say you stole my ideas since mine are just in my head...
I would say the M101 A2 would be a good choice for you. Width= 73 inches A1, A2. 80 inches A3. I believe your Pinz is right at 70 inches wide so would not be to wide. Easily visible for backing and while they are pretty heavy at 1340 average weight empty and gross of 3200 loaded tow really...
I plan to use my 101 as a camping trailer and wont need it to dump. I have seen this topic numerous times and the concerns of the cast piece breaking are valid. I have been working with a fabrication shop to build my bumpers and other stuff on my 4x4/ tow rig. I might have him take a look at...
Paint scheme is frame, underside of box inner wheel wells black. Outside of box matching white or 08 FJ cruiser Sand and truck painted to match. The metal brackets for the side rails and bows powder coated to match armor(bumpers, sliders roof rack) on truck, wood on the rails light medium...
Congrats on winning. Nice meeting you and glad I could help you find this site. I think between here and the other site you should be able to find all the information you need to make yours a geat build. I take it you were bidding on the one that did not require an EUC if you are picking it up...
Woo HOO Recovery Post
So departed a little after 0600(stopped for Coffee and Doughnut) and made the treck to Nellis AFB. Arrived right at 1100hrs for scheduled pick-up. Hooked up and pulled outside the gate to mount my lights and fixa wiring issue with vehicle side 4 pin plug.
Stopping at...
I have been around to many people and clubs like that, and cleaned up after them. I was fortunate enough to stumble on these groups/programs after my brother and other wheeling buddies got smart and left California. I wont wheel alone so now I get to enjoy my hobby and give back to it all at the...
You can get a Dexter 3500# with 10 x 2.5 brakes with cable parking brake option. I was quoted $350 with parking brakes and $280 without. You do not have to loose the hand brakes.
For the other parts you can go to trailer supply place and get them. One of the many requirements for Military...
Recovery pick-up time of 1100hrs tomorrow. I will be leaving the house at 0600. It is a 265 mile drive each way from home to Nellis AFB. Plan is to pick-up trailer spend a good walk around PMCS, hook up lights then go have lunch before the long slow drive home. Truck with trailer 55mph speed...
OHV Volunteer Programs
I am from the other side of the Country here in California. The San Bernardino National Forest has a Non-profit associated with it the San Bernardino National Forest Associtation. Most of the groups are tree-hugging anti OHV, however there are two important groups in...
The 915 A5 is very nice but immediately after fielding had to have Freightliner go out and fix a few issues. The headlights look different but they are the new LED's that the MV are going to now. They work fantastic, have some on my HMMWV's and also LMTV/MTV vehicles.
Columbia10- I plan on using my M101 for camping also and will be driving with the Tarp and bows on to protect my goods and also act as a tent at night. The tighter you get the better off you are as any slack will let it beat itself to death and tear. Now if you are talking about during tte...
Ratch, I plan on putting matching rims and tires on my trailer later on. I will probably end up ruinning the ones that come on it for a while. I am on a very tight budget so it will move slowly.
