The reason I made several small adjustments is that I was holding the camera with one hand. Thank you for pointing it out though. Everything points to VR so I'll keep diging.

When I adjust the knob under the control panel it changes the frequency. The machine doesn't shut down it just only creates electric when I'm holding the the SRS in the start position. If I had a variac I could actually test the VR but I don't and not quite ready to buy one. I don't expect I...
I need to double check but when I adjust the hz I think the volts are quite a bit low. I don't know where to turn the knob but I think it's around 70v where there should be 120v. I'm not sure if that helps you but thought I'd bring it up. I may try to crank it up tomorrow while recording on...
OK so I haven't had a lot of time. I now have the right rectifier diode installed. The one I used was much better but not original. The resister I installed was 100w replacement for a 55w so should be fine there. Please understand I know nothing about these generators other than the reading...
I'm a little bummed. I got the rectifier diode and resistor installed and it still does the same thing. Now I really have to start digging. I was hoping that was going to be it.
I have the right diode ordered but not going to make it here by Saturday so I ordered the next best thing from Amazon and have it coming tomorrow. I ordered a 1000v 50a full wave bridge rectifier and going to just use 2 wires from it. It's replacing a 400v 12a diode. I hope to have it running...
The resistor is on order. It was a 10 ohm 55w ceramic wirewound. I ordered a 100w 10 ohm wirewound with aluminum heatsink. We'll see if that helps. It was R1 which is near a bank of diodes. I'll check all the diodes too...
I have to figure out what resistor that was and what the original value is. The markings on the side are gone. I also have to try and figure out if it overheated and shattered and why.
That's good to know. I am too cheap to buy a new one at this time. I'll try to test and repair the existing one. There aren't that many components and most are probably testable in circuit. If it just need a diode or transister, I can pronbably get that for under a dollar.
I'll have to try that tomorrow. I think you are describing to force it to ignore any issues and "just run". I have done a lot of reading and I think I'm going to have to pull the VR and give it a look over. I have some experience with electronics and the VR doesn't look all that...
I just tried the gen and even holding the start for an extra few seconds doesn't make it generate for long. The Hz and Volts go up and a dremel tool in the convenience outlet starts running but as soon as I let off the start it goes back to zero. Am I missing a switch or something? There are...
It's ALIVE!!! I got all the fluids filled. I checked the water filter and it was still there. I added the stock fuel filter. I derusted the secondary and just put it on without a cartridge. After lots of priming it started right up. Generator isn't making power yet but I know it just...
I've watched some videos on the conversion and it looks very simple. If I remember correct its cut one copper bar and move 4 wires. The unit looks near flawless and complete other than the one filter housing. I think I got a good deal on it but who knows. I'll get it running then decide...
I agree that I need to do the conversion to single phase but I gotta make sure it even runs first. If I find out the pump is out or it needs a lot of other repairs then I will just try to sell it rather than fix it.
I'm really thinking about making a bracket for 2 of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CSGT64/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER and mounting it in place of the secondary. I might put 3 on there. Then use...
I think what I'll do is use some evapo-rust to remove the rust from the canister I have and just put it one there with no filter. The one filter should be enough to test with. If everything goes well then I'll convert it to spin-on filters.
Can someone explain the balanced legs thing. i...
