If I was a betting man, I'd say your starter relay (the one actually on the starter) is starting to go bad. I had that issue a while back. Sometimes just wouldn't do anything, but a little later it would go. After a while, I had to crawl under the truck and whack the relay with a hammer or...
Been investigating all of this for a while. Finally got up the nerve to dump some light hydraulic oil in the tank. It's clean, just drained out of a big piece of mining equipment. Filtered it to 3 microns and topped off my tank (I would guess about 10 gallons). I'll be going for a spin this...
I have the drum sitting at my house. Haven't put any in yet. I had to get the emissions test done and didn't know how WMO would do, so I waited. Then we had to run up north this weekend to cut our Christmas tree and I didn't want to risk problems with my entire family in tow. Probably going...
I don't know that that's a ground. I have one of those too. It's just hanging, always has been (had the truck for a little over 2 years), and I don't have any electrical issues.
If you could smell the antifreeze, you've probably got a leak somewhere. Did you look around while it was running?
And I think I'd rather it be a head gasket than the water pump. It's just about as much work and cheaper. :?
Yeah, I saw that. Mine is an '86 and not affected by that recall. However, even if it were, that's not where it was leaking. It was at the connection at the radiator. The flare nut.
$300. You can buy a new one for about that, but I think it's only a 3-core. Plus you have to have it shipped and all that, so I decided supporting a local place was the way to go.
Just an update. Once the got the tubes cleaned out, they found leaks everywhere. Like 20 pinhole leaks all over the core. So, I went ahead and had them recore it with a huge 4 core. Hopefully that lasts me a while!
Allright! I'm in business! I ended up added 2 washers to each stud in the head behind the alternator bracket, and then 2 washers behind a couple of the bolts on the PS pump. It's all lined up now!
Got my new radiator in (had them build me a 4 core, it's **** near twice as thick)...
I the pic I posted above the belts are tensioned. So it's not mounted correctly. LOL!
Also, can anyone take a quick look at their vacuum lines? On the solenoid or whatever it is on the IP, which line goes to which connection? One goes to the transmission, one goes to the vacuum pump...
Pulley is fine on the water pump. I took some measurements off the old one and they are identical. If the pulley sat any farther back, it would rub on the pump. Also, notice that the water pump pulley and the crankshaft pulley are in perfect alignment. It's the PS pump that's crooked. When...
Well dangit, now I'm even more confused. I was searching the TM and found the pic below. It clearly shows that the bracket attaches to the alternator bracket with a bolt through the front. I have it reversed. The PS bracket sits behind the alternator bracket and the bolt comes in from the...
Well, it looks like it's the PS pump that's crooked. See the pic attached. I can't quite figure out how this happened. I know I didn't bend the PS bracket. It's definitely not broken. Maybe I need to add some washers or something where it attached to the water pump stud and the alternator...
Mine is set up like the left side. That's how it was when I took it all apart. I didn't remove the alternator on the drivers side, so I don't see what the issue is. The only thing I can think of is the water pump shaft is too long. I guess I'll measure that too. Only thing is, the PS pump...
I'm in the middle of replacing the radiator, water pump, etc etc. I had to pull all the belts. I though I knew what I was doing, but something doesn't seem right. I put them back on just like in the TM (see attached pic) but it seems like the driver side alt belt is not aligned correctly. I...
