72 inch lbs on the injectors is way underpowered......... I'd have to check my notes again but I believe they are set at either 65 or 68. At 72 in/lbs. I can barely get the truck running. and when it does run I don't have enough power to shift up out of 4th high on the straight and level...
It blows a big cloud fer sure, seems to be slow to respond but the cloud of smoke deminishes only a little under heavy load. AS for the idle, it seems to have a bit of a pop like it has a bad valve, but that can't be either because I've put all new valves in and seats as well. The heads were...
Today we're back to work on the 817, and this afternoon (as before) I found a serious case of wet stacking going on. I've redone the heads from one end to the other and still persistant white grey smoke still prevelant. My question here for the members is this.
will pressure and fuel supply...
Hey camp9 just gotta ask did you just buy that truck this past week at fort McCoy? I see they had a dump there as well, was wondering what that dump was like. I see GL had it running and moved it ahead, but in general I'm just wondering what kind of "good deal" I missed out on. the one that I...
I guess those of us who live in the country are kind of spoiled, I guess no worries about where to park on a farm. As far as licensing my five ton I spoke with the DMV, and they said if I intend to use it for farm related purposes, I need to pass all regs in regard to clearance lights, and...
ok.........yup yer right... sorry about that. (open mouth insert foot I guess) just not used to seeing them without their side panels. Is it a project tractor for you then?
Are you sure that's a 66? looks more like a 77 or 770 I don't believe that 66's or even the 60's had cast iron frames. also I see the PTO lever is on the left hand side of the seat typical of either one of those tractors....... Not saying it's a bad thing it's just that you got more HP...
After doing a search on google on the matter here I've come across a few links. something to chew on I guess, and I'm open to opinions.

Diesel Smoke tells YOU a Story…
and for you guys with the 6.2L GM's
Diesel Trouble Shooting
also..........I'd...
I guess I was of the mindset that partially burnt fuel comes out white. some of the possibilities that keep running through my mind are fuel pump timing, valve adjustment (due to a rookie setting valves for the first time) and fuel pump pressure. Valve adjustment will be checked again soon...
yeah ! we're doing better with it fer sure........no expert by any means but a good change in the tranny oil and things started working a lot better. Yeah I'd have to agree. Jeff worked his but off for me too.
Here is a picture for you guys to see what I am talking about. When this picture was taken it was about 30 degrees out, the truck had it's fuel filter changed and all recent work on the truck completed. I got the truck started and let it run for about an hr. the temp came up to about 160...
Sierra117: that could very well be, I guess I would be interested in hearing from the membership here if that is a common occurance or not. My temp today was about 30 degrees or so. I've never had a diesel smoke white after it warmed up but that don't mean it isn't possible. My mechanic...
