    Motor Blown....Advice Needed

Here are a few shots of the oil pan.....does this look like a rod went through each side of the pan? Not sure what else could have done this much damage.

    Motor Blown....Advice Needed

Thanks alot guys. Took another look today and there really is no salvaging either the motor or the trans. I am definitely going to go with a late model/low mileage 6.5 GEP and I do drive the truck regularly at 55 so having the 4L80 with park would be a nice upgrade. The one I am looking at has...

    Motor Blown....Advice Needed

Really bad night tonight.... Almost one year to the day since I received my 1992 HMMWV and I believe that the motor has thrown a rod. I have two rather large holes in the oil plan and the starter was struck by the rod and consequently broke the transmission mounting points. I am considering...

Need help diagnosing a failing injection pump

Hi Guys - I have a 92 M998 which has been running erratically as of late. In a nutshell, on a cold start the truck fires right up..faster than my 2015 F350 in fact. Is does not smoke and it runs very well other than a small knock that comes and goes. However, after you have run the truck up...

HMMWV Starter nose cone. Aluminum or Brass??

Hi Guys - Had my starter fail on the HMMWV because the aluminum nose cone snapped off. I know that I could replace the nose cone but the starter was old and new starters are fairly cheap. I bought a brand new Leece-Neville starter. I was surprised to find that the new starter has a brass...

    Diesel Fuel Purge

Agreed...I found a new (surplus) set of injectors for $180 so I am going to just replace all 8.

    Diesel Fuel Purge

Sorry guys. A diesel purge is when you run 100% injector cleaner through the injectors rather than just adding it to the fuel. I have a sticking injector that might improve if I can get it clean. The purge requires that you bypass the pump and draw the cleaner at full strength.

    Diesel Fuel Purge

Guys - After hours of searching the web I cant seem to find a solid description of how to do a diesel purge on our HMMWV. I reviewed the K5 board 6.2L purge but it is a bit different than our setup it appears. I put together a simple block diagram that I wanted to share with you guys to see if...

Red Dot A/C in Soft Top HMMWV

Guys - Just wanted to share a few pics of my recently completed Red Dot install in my soft top humvee. I chose a different setup for mounting the condenser because of garage height issues. Plenty of airflow and the unit cools very well. Evap was mounted on the 4 man cargo partition and is...

    Issues with SF-97

Bought my HMMWV on 9/2, sent to TSC 9/18 and cleared 11/10. Pretty much exactly what they said originally. this was my first EUC. I am VERY PLEASED to say that the last two times I have called GP the wait was less than 5 minutes so it looks like they added customer service support. Now we...

Anyone done a recovery from Camp Ripley (Little Falls, MN) recently?

Thanks for the help Patriot. I have yet to find anyone that has done a GP recovery at Camp Ripley and GP wont provide details on pickup windows until the EUC clears. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Anyone done a recovery from Camp Ripley (Little Falls, MN) recently?

Hey guys - Won a 998 about two months ago and although the EUC hasnt yet cleared I figure I better start thinking about the recovery. I'm just wondering how tough this is going to be. Is this a manned site or will I be limited to a day or two per week for recovery? I am going to have it...

Tips to short list HMMWVs up for auction on Gov Planet

Only my opinion, but I tend to stay away from the 6.5's. You are better off with a 6.2 than a 6.5 UNLESS you can be certain its the later Optimizer version of the 6.5. Horsepower difference between the 6.2 NA and 6.5 NA is minimal

    Can you identify these marks?

Just wondering why the number 13 is sprayed on several components on the truck? Looks like it is on the differentials and the A-arms. Does the military normally spray the date on components when they are replaced?

Jump Starting a HMMWV - Which option would you go with?

Hello All - 1st post here and I have to say that I have really enjoyed reading through the wealth of awesome info on this site. I am waiting for my M998 EUC to clear but in the meantime I am planning for its arrival. Although the truck started and ran in the GP auction I fully expect the...
