Anyone commit sacrilege and weld 16.5 inch rims to convert to 17 inch rims?

I admit it...these trucks are like those crazy horny girlfriends...the hotter they look...the more issues they have ...that's why it's so addictive...and irresistible... Sure, those tires are going to rip your spindles off, but man...did that feel / look amazing hehehe Get another set, let's...

Truck bought for parts, got it running, but…

Any other words of wisdom for turbo oil leak at the base? Have you seen this issue before? Is the torque maybe too much or too low?

Anyone commit sacrilege and weld 16.5 inch rims to convert to 17 inch rims?

Oh yeah, that offset is too much, I personally don't care about the "skateboard" look (and like you are saying, it's not good for the spindles), but it shows what work others have done in this area trying to relatively maintain the wheel OEM look.

Anyone commit sacrilege and weld 16.5 inch rims to convert to 17 inch rims?

I have been searching to buy/ make/ modify a similar wheel (I like the 24 bolt OEM look and the runflat) but with a standard diameter that would have more tire options. In the process I ran into this truck, which it looks like it has 20" wheels with the OEM look: I contacted the guy asking...

Truck bought for parts, got it running, but…

Ok, so I finally got around to install the new turbo cartridge, new gaskets, new turbo bolts, unblocked the wastegate (it is moving smoothly now), but there is not much change. The blow-by is the same and it still leaks oil at the turbo base, maybe less than before. I tightened the two turbo...

    L5P in a REV truck?

Oh yes, I forgot about the CP4 (went over all the differences a while back), you are exactly right, that's why I thought the LBZ (with 6 speed) and LMM are in the sweet spot. Things are starting crystalize in my head lol

    L5P in a REV truck?

From online info it sounded like all 2006-2007 LBZs are 6 speed and I was just looking for the D vin code ( www.xtremediesel.com - The LBZ was the first Duramax to be coupled to the 6-speed Allison 1000 automatic, which proved capable of handling more power than the five-speed version that...

    L5P in a REV truck?

I know what you mean by the "other" stuff :) On that line of thought, wouldn't the LML fall in the same size category and be just as good if not better as the LMM/ LBZ?

    L5P in a REV truck?

I see what you are saying, the LLY (from H1), LMM and LBZ are much closer together, while the L5P is over 7" taller, at least on paper. Even 4-5" additional would be tough to clear. but I hear it has been done. Will keep investigating, but at the moment the LBZ looks to be the sweet spot...

    L5P in a REV truck?

How about the transfer case, can I keep the existing one (242 I think)? Or do I need to change that too to from the donor Duramax truck?

    L5P in a REV truck?

That’s great info as always, thank you!

    L5P in a REV truck?

I was thinking to use the 2.73 diffs, are both 2.56 & 2.73, 10k rated? Is only the 3.08 rated at 12.1k? Was thinking which one would handle better the 910 ft/lb the L5P delivers?

    L5P in a REV truck?

Has anyone ported a L5P with a 6 or 10 speed Allison to a REV truck? What extra challenges are we talking about, aside from programming? Or is the LBZ / LML the sweet spot?

    Replacing fuel filter

I would check that you get the Kydon manufactured fuel filters (it should have their CAGE code on the box, ideally from the known vendors that sell mainly OEM parts, even AMG sells it), as there are so many others selling Chinese fakes as OEM.

REV trucks DWF exhaust rear fender reinforcement bracket?

Do you know the length of the sleeve/ spacer between the exhaust and fender (#54 in the diagram, p/n 12506913)? Is it made from aluminum? (not sure why it’s priced at $30 to $50 each?)

REV trucks DWF exhaust rear fender reinforcement bracket?

Thank you! I made a bracket and when went to install it found the factory one was already attached behind the fender with those two hex bolts:

Success at Repairing Military AGM Batteries?

Without getting too technical, the smaller battery testers are also "real" and unlike the high current DC loading testers (the so called carbon-pile which the cheap DC testers are made with, it falls under the resistive loading category), are based on injecting an AC constant-current thru the...

    FRAG 7 Door Info

Yes, exactly, the OEM X-doors outline is very helpful and yes, the plan is to have it flat, similar to these pictures I took at Yermo:

    FRAG 7 Door Info

Thanks for the update! I was thinking to get my X-doors 3D scanned into CAD and start from there. The outline should be the same and was thinking to do a thick profile, however use some of the inner space to add power locks. I like the Frag 5 side rolling windows look, but I am told they have...

    FRAG 7 Door Info

Have you made progress on the Frag doors? I am interested in fabricating a set also.
