After doing some more learning and checking.....it's looking more like I really do have a broken lifter.....
Would someone post a close up picture of the lifter, especially the bottom?
Also, what is the total length of the unbroken lifter?
My lifter just easily lifted straight up from the side...
I'm not sure if I should get a parts engine like Pop has or maybe I should look for a new engine in the crate....
Any idea if a new engine is available .....and what it should cost?
Thanks again for your help...
Andy
I could pretend to be nice to You long enough to get the engine......But Pam and Spicey?....I don't even think I could fake that for one minuter!
NOS A2 engine ?......Tis ain't sounding good already!
This is embarrassing ....
The recent discussion about lack of oil prompted me to look into my records on the jeep....
First, I've owned this jeep since early 90's.....all of this time I've had minor problems with the fuel flow from rust in the tank.
I kept thinking it was minor and could be...
Thanks to both of you !
I just spent Wednesday 'til Sunday at the Durhamtown Ralley...and quickly knew that it would be next to impossible to find a better group of people....
.....Both knowledgeable and eager to help each other....
I really appreciate the help!!
Andy
I may have to have that done.....I can't do it myself, so I hate to spend the big bucks on something I drive so little......
If I could do it myself, it would already be in progress....
....Thanks Pop,
I may have to take you up on that......
My mechanic says the cam is lifting but the bottom "lobe" is broken off.....making the lifter to short by about 1/4 inch.
I'd like to find a good close up photo of the lifter.
/thanks for all the help All...
I've got a broken lifter.....it's the second lifter back from the front.
I think it's the intake lifter for the #1 cylinder...I can pull it out (up) from the side plate.
Is there a way to fix this without removing the engine?
Seems like the maybe the rod could be lengthened......or something...
PopUp.....don't forget, besides the boiled and roasted peanuts......We'll need about 10 lbs. of Green ones to make the trip up and back.....
Green peanuts and Beer make for good driving, and fix your stomach right up !
....Grits
I'm hoping to make this... my FIRST rally.....maybe PopUp will let me tag along with him.
Does anyone have 151-A2 parts? I need a new or good fuel tank for my late A2 WITH emissions.
Also, tires....
Thanks ....And hope to meet Y'all soon....
Andy (GritsHole)
Maybe I should pull the choke out and drive it to Brooklet, Ga. !!
But I agree, I needs to be driven and the carb needs to be rebuilt....I've already got the hard carb kit....
Took another ride today and now beginning to doubt my "bad valve" theory.....
It has run better since I put the pushrod back in and adjusted the lifter.....
But today it would spin the wheels instantly on dirt and ran rather "peppy" ...WITH THE CHOKE OUT...almost all the way !!
With the choke...
