    Hydroboost & Master Cylinder - M1008

Here is the update for today. I plugged the holes in the MC for the front/rear and pressed the pedal. No pedal pressure builds up. I then switched out my old master cylinder with the new one and plugged the holes in it. Within two pumps, I blew the plastic plugs out of the hole, and...

    Windshield Wiper Problem

Just curious... can the plug be removed? If it could, you could soak it in a cup of vinegar and salt. I just used this mixture on my dash bulbs/connectors/panel and they came out sparking clean. My dash lights were dull/not bright and this helped the clean the connections.

    Why Lift

Thanks for all the information. Interesting... I did not know the difference between the two types of lifts. The angle of approach/descent is also new to me as well. Thanks! K

Both were purchased at Oriely's. Both are rebuilt units.

    Why Lift

How does lifting the body give you more ground clearance? The tire/rim increase I can see gaining a few inches to keep the suspension/pumpkin/tranny up higher and out of ruts... but I don't understand how a 4 inch lift gives you any more clearance? Not being argumentative... I just don't...

    Why Lift

Ok seriously... Why lift a truck? I don't get out for much 4 wheeling... just flat lands here in Texas. What do you gain by lifting the body higher in the air?

    Hydroboost & Master Cylinder - M1008

I think thats the best course of action. I will plug the ports and see if I get pedal pressure. If not, then I will replace the "new" master cylinder with the original one and see if that gives me pedal pressure. *Note to self... don't perform two operations (hyrdo boost and master...

Trouble getting access to broken starter bolt

+1 They give you more length then the eazy out. You shouldn't have any problem with the drill bit pulling the nut.

    Hydroboost & Master Cylinder - M1008

*PROCEDURE* I finally had a chance today to bleed everything. I left the master cylinder on the truck but removed the brake lines. I then bleed the master cylinder. I connected the brake lines and vacuum bleed all the lines (starting at RR/LR/RF/LF). The brake pedal pressure hadn't changed...

M1008 - To Buy Or Not To Buy...

sheesh I wish rats and mice... my problem is with humans!! It's ok to be a newbie (like me) but ask questions if you don't know! I had another thought and that was look at the floor on both the passenger and driver side along the side. Some trucks leak water and have rust there. Also...

Ohh duh! So obvious now with pictures. You da man! Thanks! From experience... is it hard to push on the rod to "simulate" the brake pedal? Is there a lot of resistance?

    Hydroboost & Master Cylinder - M1008

Please post a picture of the "U" your talking about... I can't visualize where the line is supposed to go... I will read the manual tomorrow on bench bleeding as well. What is the valve your referring to? Thanks for your help! K

M1008 - To Buy Or Not To Buy...

Look the vehical over good... these trucks are unique! Do the lights work, black out lights, cab lights? Look the batteries over, the connectors and the wiring for the starter. Do the accesories work like the wipers and does it squirt fluid? Does the horn work? Go over the truck and have...

    Hydroboost & Master Cylinder - M1008

I should have stated that there is very little resistance and it very easy to push to the floor. It will return slowlly on its own... but I think thats due to the hydroboost. *shrugs*

    Hydroboost & Master Cylinder - M1008

No I did not bench bleed it... do you think its worth pulling apart and bleeding it that way?

    Hydroboost & Master Cylinder - M1008

I had a bad hydroboost on my M1008. Being a practical kind of guy that I am, I decided to replace the Master Cylinder along with the Hydroboost at the same time. Pulling them off was a cinch... I had two new replacements ready to go and installed them. I added fluids to both the master...

I went with Toyo tires on mine... 285/75/16 10 ply sweetness with a bag of silici in the tire for automatic hole pluging. I was stranded on the side of the road when I ran over a horse shoe nail.
