Gentlemen!
Im working on training a new gpt to assist users with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining their 802 and 803.
It needs thorough testing and SHOULD NOT be used as a guide at this point. It has been trained on the TM's. I dont have the knowledge of the TM's at this point to...
Gotcha! as far as tier 4 stuff - Rules for thee and not for me when it comes to government owned equipment. that does make the units more enticing though.
Okay, apologies in advanced for my stupidity here. I feel like if you can walk me through this I should have a good understanding of how to navigate the TM's.
I'm in 9-2815-253-24.
on 3-2 (troubleshooting table) i see: Low Oil Pressure...
I feel like I need a TM for how to navigate the TM's. I've gone through @Guyfang thread here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-803a-all-the-tms-you-need.175591/
When you say -24tm, to which are you referring? to me, it looks like there are multiple tm's ending in -24. I've perused them...
How is it working on these? looks pretty tight compared to 803's. Also im sure these are more complicated. Do they have tier 4 emissions equipment on these?
Great news gentlemen! MEP gauge is reporting between 20-25 psi and mechanical is reporting 41 psi. Let me know please if ya’ll see issues with my install!
LOL yes, I'm saying ill get a sample when I change the oil next, and ill take the sample from the USED oil of course. Ill run the set to warm up the oil, and get all the metals suspended and take my sample during draining. But ill be sure to change this plan if the test facility has other...
Cant wait to see you get into it! there's not much on youtube about the AMMPS, but they look intriguing. although they're definitely out of my price range!
Keep us updated in this thread! You can post your questions and progress here. I love seeing how others get theirs setup and repairs that need to be made.
If you take care of your MEP, your MEP will take care of you!
Mmkay back with a sniff test report. Results: inconclusive. I don’t think it has a diesel smell to it, but it’s probably not the best method. Especially for someone that has never worked on Diesel engines. I do have UV leak detector dye somewhere around here. I need to read h the bottle to...
This is good info. I’ll give it a good sniff tomorrow and report back.
I partially would feel relieved if it was diesel in oil causing the issue, because I think worst case scenario would be bearings, right? What would cause diesel to be in the oil?
Mechanical gauge won’t be in until Sunday...
@2Pbfeet oil smells like I would expect. Kinda has that slightly used smell. But, I’m probably not the best to ask. It doesn’t have a diesel smell if that’s what you’re getting at. Or are you concerned its water maybe?
This is a reset unit with 1600 hours. I’m currently running the same oil I bought it with. I should note though that this set came from another forum member. He tells me he used shell t4 15w-40 and the oil is still very clean. I am normally pretty militant about changing oil after a purchase but...
