Found 2 wires completely destroyed and nearly welded together. one was a 27 wire heading to Smart Box. Fixed the two wires and she fired right up! Im really surprised this isnt a more common issue?
You were exactly right! the steering knuckle was rubbing the main wire loom over the steering shaft. Not only did I find a random broken ground (Not part of the main ground harness) but I saw the webbing around the loom was broken. I used my video scope to get closer and bingo damaged wires and...
Well, finally got all of the chores done on HMMWV went to take it for a test drive and accidentally ran over my hi-lift jack, I put it in drive to move over the jack but I heard sparks and looked forward to see sparks and smoke coming from somewhere behind the "dash" (seemed to be coming from...
well aware its 24v hence the problem.
"2: Can the constant 12V wire be tied into the 12V ignition trigger (I have a stepdown triggered on an ignition relay for other 12V accessories)" - from my first post.
I talked to the Gauge mfr and they said its perfectly fine to tie they constant source into the ignition sourced power. Mechanic brother in law said the constant power may be used to store programs or functions (like high/low or what color to display) since Im not too concerned about that Im...
Im trying to install a Transmission temperature gauge before some longer trips I have planned. I can't decide what to do about the 12V constant power wire the gauge requires.
1: Why does a temp gauge or any guage need a constant power wire?
2: Can the constant 12V wire be tied into the 12V...
Slowly knocking out projects, just finished passanger door and was pleased enough to share with you all. Honestly it turned out so well Im considering making a dozen or so and selling them!
3/16 aluminum panels cut and bent to shape with stainless locking latch and 1/2 slide windows (meant for...
I guess, not sure why you would need to vent the front of the tank with the back of the tank but oh well.
I bought some new tubing and "clasps" to reuse the compression fittings. All is good now.(y)
maybe mine was replaced and cut just barely long enough in stock form because there was no way it was reaching from front to back while still going through the frame, it was a solid inch short.
Looks like Im buying a compression union, that should give me an inch or two and reconnect it all.
While installing my 2" body lift I could tell the nylon tube that connects the front to the back of the gas tank wasn't going to stretch and fit while still going the subframe. I cut the compression fitting off to pull through the subframe thinking that would give me enough slack to reconnect...
Yes sir, drove it around a few times and made one more tweek to the design. I attached a stl of the "final" design. I can make any other modifications if anyone wants any! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6335634
I mocked one up and so far it works great! I'm using nearly solid ABS and the engagement pins are chamfered for strength. Couple of notes, Mine is a little too tall, it is backed all the way to the steering wheel spokes and sometimes doesn't want to clear the turn signal switch (an easy fix) it...
Hello all!
If someone could provide me with semi-detailed dimensions of their turn signal cancel ring Ill mock one up in CAD and 3D print to try out. If we can get it to work Ill post a link to the download for the STL file. Ill also send a 3D printed Prototype with custom engraving to whoever...
I decided to go into the pan. I need to drop it anyway to replace the trans filter. I ordered a 1/4 x 1/8 NPT bushing to tap into the pan. I plan to use a nut to secure it on the other side with JB weld all over the place. Ill post a tutorial once I get it done!
Hello all, I have a 2006 M1097R1 that is getting close to being done but I want to install a transmission temperature gauge. Has anyone done this before? I did a lot of research on the theory of where to put it on a 3L80 but no one specifically mentioned which port or connection to use. I'm...
