    Barn find, M35A3?

If the box on the back is original, it is likely a related M35A2 variant, such as an M109A3. With these van trucks, the M35A3 related van truck would be an M109A4. We'd love to see pics of your barn find. Also, is there a turbo on the passenger side of the engine or is it a "skinny exhaust...

    Barn find, M35A3?

Dash tags aside, the M35A3 has a very characteristic front end, with headlights on the fenders. The A3 has a Caterpillar engine (often yellow) adorned with stickers to that effect. In the cab, an A3 will have a shift lever for an automatic transmission. All that should help you identify an A3...

    Daryl’s Deuce Resto

You are churning this out at what seems like impressive speed. Your next few trucks will go even more quickly! [emoji16] Sent from my moto g play - 2023 using Tapatalk

    Deuce Rough Terrain Limitations

Great pic! I learned that I want to hook the winch cable up high before I explore water holes. That way I can step out of the cab onto the fender, grab the hook, chain and cable and toss it to the friendly person on dry land. Turns out, winching is more fun when it does not start with me being...

    Finally got me a deuce!

Sounds right. The ground is provided by the lock screws that hold the gauge cluster to the dash. They often corrode a bit. Sent from my SM-G991W using Tapatalk

Amount of oil draining through rear drive axle tube

When you lift up one side of the axle to just above level, hardly any mess ensues. Put a rag there anyway. Maybe a cup of oil, tops. Sent from my SM-G991W using Tapatalk

    Daryl’s Deuce Resto

Of course, to be military accurate, you would need to remove those blankets from the wheels to get original-looking paint overspray on the tires and also maybe throw a hand or two of sand into the wet paint! ;-)

    Mlvw finally acquired

The winch on the MLVW is a PullMaster S10 hydraulic winch, usually made in Canada, with 10t capacity. There is a guy in Saskatchewan that dismantles MLVWs and he has some for sale for about CDN $1600 , including cable. The transmission is an Allison MT643.

    Axle Flange Gasket or Sealant

Black stuff. I never use the paper gasket there. It is a no-pressure environment. Sent from my SM-G991W using Tapatalk

@seano11 you are the man! Glad to see MLVWs back up and running!!! Sent from my SM-G991W using Tapatalk

    Mlvw finally acquired

Government liability paranoia. After the initial batches were disabled and let go, they also branded all subsequent trucks that were released as "irrepairable," thus ensuring that the VINs could never be legally registered for road use again. Disabling took different directions. Some have...

    Finally got me a deuce!

I missed that you have an A3. My info is for the A2. In any case, the coolant temp sensor will look similar. Yes, coolant will come out, but if you are quick, you won't lose much. Sent from my SM-G991W using Tapatalk

    Finally got me a deuce!

Locate the upper radiator hose. Where the hose attaches to the engine, move towards the firewall about 3 inches. Round shaped thing with a hex and a single insulated wire connection. This pic (WhiteOwl parts) might help:

    Daryl’s Deuce Resto

There is something immensely satisfying about having the truck all in one matching colour and not looking like it was painted with a mop!

    Fuel

I experimented a bit with fuel in the past. Ran it on biodiesel. Deuce did not care. Poured a quart of (new) motor oil into the tank because there is thinking about better top end lubrication. Deuce smoked more and did not care. Ran it on pure regular gasoline, with two stroke oil for...

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

I am just happy for @Dasgog because it sure feels good when the truck starts and runs as it should! Also, psychologically, it shows the truck who's boss! It'll think twice about failing again. My theory and I am sticking with it. On a serious note, it must be the difference in rotation speed...

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Are you saying it finally pulled fuel through and now starts and runs on its own? If so, it is beneficial that you did not tow it to the edge of that canyon [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G991W using Tapatalk

Yes, it will. Don't give up. It is a problem to be solved.

    Deuce Rough Terrain Limitations

Looking at the picture, the Boyce kit uses a bolt-on, belt-driven hydraulic pump.
