    Trans light

on my M1123 the trans shifted but the light stayed on, problem was the RPM sensor on the front timing cover was not connected. without that signal to the TCM, trans light stayed on and the torque converter defaulted into lock up. suggest checking the sensor and connections.

    EESS Issues

Yes the thud may be the plunger moving but if the contacts are arked closed the thud is misleading. I can't be the only one that has let go of the switch on my winch and it kept going sending me in a panic to unhook the battery or let go of the key on my jeep and the starter stayed engaged...

    EESS Issues

Wile you have the box open, take your ohm meter and check the large silver solenoid , the large post on one side and the large post opposite it. With the box open on the bench there should be NO continuity across those posts. If there is continuity across those posts you found the problem . when...

    Humvee Injector Replacement

I have read a lot here about injector pumps, replacing them and rebuilding them but vary little about injectors. Thought I might chime in, Any time we pull a pump ( diesel powered ag equipment) for rebuild we always pull the injectors and send them with the pump. If they are good, it costs vary...

Need help understanding the HMMWV cooling circuit

I seem to remember a post from Retired War Horse some time back that may fit your situation. I Think he had a unit that functioned fine when sitting still but with RPM the fan would stay on, Like when driving. If I remember correctly it turned out to be a failing power steering pump, Pump would...

    Speedometer calibration with different tires?

with a 242 T case and 3:08 gears on STD tires you need a 41 tooth gear. larger gear slows the speedometer down. this is the what I used on my M1123 to put the speedometer dead on with the GPS.

Jumped into the deep end and don't know how to swim in the transmission pool

Not trying to be smart But ; If the truck won't move at all, have you checked to make sure the transfer case is in gear. Look under the truck (safely) see if the drive shafts are moving, bad transfer case/ broken diff or missing- broken half shaft could all cause it not to move. May have...

Jumped into the deep end and don't know how to swim in the transmission pool

No the trans would go into gear and shift even though the light stayed on / I noticed the torque converter was locked up all the time and I don't believe it would go into overdrive but I didn't drive it much until I was able to sort it out. Will your truck not Move ? not even in limp mode ?

Jumped into the deep end and don't know how to swim in the transmission pool

My M1123 did the same thing, Light came on as soon as the unit was switched on but when the engine started it stayed on. On mine it was the RPM signal from the engine telling the TCU the engine was running. I was lucky in that the plugs had been pulled apart at the sender. Good Luck. (edit)...

Have you tried driving it with the fuel cap removed ? The air vent may be plugged up causing a vacuum in the fuel system.

89 M998 "metal bang" noise seemingly from rear?

Just a shot in the dark here but, check your drive line clearance between the metal shield on the fuel tank and your shaft. Mine had a balance weight welded to the shaft and when the tank was full of fuel it would flex just enough to contact the weight and make metal clacking sound that was...

(M998) Hard To Start With Cold Engine

Based on the statement that finally it blows white smoke, It could be a problem similar to one I had. After my truck would sit overnight the next morning when I went to start it, it would hit on a couple of cylinders / try to start but then nothing and I would have to crank on it to get it to...

    Sealing washer pump grommet

Funny thing is I pulled mine apart several times sealed it with multiple types of sealant finally to find that it was really leaking from the output barb. Replaced the small spring clamp (hose clamp) with a small rip tie problem solved. couldn't see the forest for the trees.

Motorboat sound, putt-putt over 15 mph

I had a similar situation, Turned out to be the balance weight on the rear drive shaft was just touching the metal shield on the side of the fuel tank. couldn't see a rub mark on the shield but the weight was shinny. Key was the put-put got faster as I speed up
