New M35 Vinyl Cab Covers Khaki

I find that SEM or Mar-Hyde brand is the best dye for vinyl. It actually permeates the material rather than sitting on top and peeling or rubbing off later. Dupli-Color is the worst for coming off. Also, be sure the vinyl is VERY clean and use the prep solvent that they sell before...

M109 pilfered at GL Ft. Riley

Chances are that this is a motor pool theft, or a theft for a friend, that is going on with the knowledge of some higher-ups, and therefore any complaints will most likely fall on deaf ears. It stinks, but it seems to be a post problem not being addressed rather than GL. I doubt their reps...

    Dual Wheel Removal Tip

Another thing that works quite well is the motorcycle/ATV lifts that Craftsman and the like sell. They are also adjustable in height so you can jack up the truck and leav it there then slide the wheel/drum assemblies off.

Deuce age, or how old is it really?

The data plate definitely has it, and it also says "M35A2 W/W" so it was definitely changed at rebuild time. Guess the guy stamping that day had his own little system. :-D

Can you say "hot air balloon?"

Deuce age, or how old is it really?

Mr Doyle, A BIG Thank you as well for clearing the air! So much great information. One last little question though; Is the registration number the number that is applied to the hood?

Carnac, THANK YOU!!! I appreciate your efforts and information very much. So neat to know the history of the truck!

Deuce age, or how old is it really?

I'm still a bit unclear; is that the date of delivery for the contract, or my particular truck?

How to clean oil spots on CARC

Best thing I've found on my deuce with the real CARC is Castrol Super Clean. A couple shot of that and a stiff scrub brush, followed with a hose will get most anything off and after it dries it looks as good as new. Just DON'T use it on any shiny or regular paint or shiny aluminum. It will...

Deuce brake locks up on reverse

While we're all speculating, I'm gonna go with a detached lining shifting around in the drum and ocassionally climbing over the other shoe locking the wheel.

Deuce age, or how old is it really?

So the "72" in the VIN is the actual year then?

Deuce age, or how old is it really?

Here's what I just found: The motor mount is riveted to the frame. The tag on the dash reads: Truck Cargo M35A2 WW The ID number is: NK00VX-72-0539-15198 The number stamped in the frame on the left side rail is 0539-15198 It does not appear to have been altered in any way that I can see...

    Fried chicken wings for fuel?

I'd say 1 gallon in a half tank of diesel wouldn't do a ny harm at all, and would be diluted enough there shouldn't be any problems. I pour a gallon or two in my deuce after filtering it, and it doesn't notice it at all. Just be sure to screen out the chunks. I think a paint filter should...

Deuce age, or how old is it really?

Well, the dash panel has a rolled lip, but could it have been changed? The hood numbers are long gone or covered by the thick layer of CARC on it now. I will check the motor mount to see what it looks like. I tried to see the frame numbers, but they too are covered with a heavy layer of...

Deuce age, or how old is it really?

The fact that the guage panel looks like all the other similar vintage trucks I have seen or seen pics of, and the switches are all of the later design, and don't appear to have been changed. That of course isn't to say that the whole dash wasn't switched out at some point or it was a really...

Deuce age, or how old is it really?

The VIN on the data plate and the title match, which is the most important to me. Where on the frame is the VIN stamped? I don't have my TM's with me right now, but I can look that up later. Not trying to be lazy. I will also try contacting CARNAC later. Thanks for the lead!
