Brand new battery will not take a charge and is toast. Some thing evidently shorted it out to the point it is ruined. I not sure if NAPA will take it back.
I checked the battery voltages: Old (front) battery was 12.51 volts; the new back battery was only 5.5 volts. I do not know what drove the new battery's voltage down so much. The fusible link that's fed from the back battery and goes across the top of the fire wall looks as though it may be...
PS: The resister on my M1009 has been by-passed earlier because it had failed, resulting in 24v going to the glow plug relay and burning out my glow plugs.
Day 1, replaced 1 battery with a new one and CUCV started up ran & drove. Day 2, engine would not crank at all and electrical smelling smoke appeared from under the hood. Upon visual inspection I did not see anything wrong with the wiring & the glow plug relay was not hot. Puzzled as to why it...
The wire is broke with barely any copper showing. I could not see anything metal to attach it to...it must have broken at or very close to the attaching point deep in the case.
I have been experiencing problems replacing the glow plug circuit board in my M1009 and I would appreciate any suggestions:
Problem #1:
After getting the GP card holder separated intact from the steering column; I am having difficulty in separating the back of the GP Controller board holder...
Thank you CUCVRS and 48cj2a for the helpful posts. I am currently about 1200 miles away from my M1009 and will not be able to perform the suggested GP tests until February though I will then. I also note with interest the discussion in this thread of various types of replacement GPs mentioned...
My M1009 has developed a similar cold starting problem on the first start of the day. After the wait light goes off it has to crank numerous times before it will fire. While cranking you can observe smoke coming out of the exhaust and then when it does fire a huge exhaust cloud. Some times...
I just went through a similar saga though the fluid that came from the transmission dipstick stayed in the engine compartment.
It turned out the that the transmission was slipping to the point that the heat & pressure built up and was forcing the fluid to come out through the dipstick. The...
The front seal is leaking and the transmission is slipping. The mechanic's theory was that the slipping was causing the fluid to boil from excessive heat and that there must be internal damage. On the road it seems to work fine although you have to rev it high to move forward or backward from a...
My 1009 is leaking lots of transmission fluid from the front seal and a mechanic is saying the fluid is blowing out the dipstick tube. Has anyone had a similar issue and what was the cause? Did the fix require a complete rebuild of the TH 400.
