I picked up a factory K5 Blazer Console at a swap meet that needs some restoration work. I would like to remove the factory lock and get it keyed for the doors, etc. Does any no how to remove the lock? The console has some small cracking in back I would like to fill before respraying it...
The new batteries seem to have fixed the problem. The Wait light now goes off quickly when the engine is warm and I can hear the GP relay clicking as it should.
I need to do further work on the grounding issue as their may be a weak ground connection in the electrical circuit.
Thanks all for...
I removed the batteries today and took them to NAPA for a load test. One battery failed and I ordered a replacement I also got the relay needed for the Doghead starter relay upgrade.
I will look into the GP relay resistor bypass. The wait light is staying on longer than usual however perhaps...
I have Military Blazer Repair Manual tm9-2320-289-20p however I did not see any topics referring to starting issues. I have charged the batteries at least to where the charger is showing zero amps for output. I am going to pull the batteries and take them for a load test. Yes the smoke seemed...
My M1009 had been running fine after sitting for four months. However today it would not start. I charged the batteries and the engine would turn very slowly however then smoke started to come from the Gen#1 Alternator terminal and a relay near the firewall.
I shut it down and noticed one...
Thank you for the addition information.
Do you think your method could be used for replacing sections of the floor pans as well? If you cut out the rusted floor pan portions in rectangular patterns and then cut the replace panel about 3/4" wider all around the perimeter of the removed floor...
Your CUCV looks very good. I have some questions re work my unit needs:
1. What type of paint did you use for the green base color? Did you do the paint work your self?
2. Did you replace or paint the interior door panels? If paint what did you use?
3. What material did you use on the...
You might try checking the new bulb in the Gen 2 light socket just to make sure there is continuity through the new bulb and the bulb holder. Also you might try spraying some electronic contact cleaner around the area where the Gen 1 bulb plugs in to make sure you are getting a solid clean...
I recently got a 101a2 from the GL to pull with my M1009. It traveled fine behind the M1009 for over 200 miles and handled well in traffic and on hilly terrain as well. I have also pulled the a2 with a load in off road conditions with the M1009 and the combination performed well together. The...
I am looking for transportation assistance for a 3/4 T m101A2 from Oklahoma City to Mena AR very soon. Alternatively I could be interested in a pick up of the unit at OKC and storage there for a couple of months until I can pick it up.
If you were going to tow a newly acquired m101a2 home from a GL site what should you check out on the trailer before a 4 hour tow trip? If you are towing it with an m1009 would you just hook it up to the pintel and plug in the lights and go? What size safety chain would be needed?
Thank you Warhog for the great advise. My M1009 is based in Western Arkansas and I live in Connecticut and I mostly will not get to work on it until after the first of the year however when I do I will go through your test protocol and "report back". The fellow that looked at my M1009 had not...
