MEP-803 - Load testing not successful

I removed the IP for the third cylinder and i couldn't find anything wrong with it except that the internal spacer (I don't know it's name) is a bit deformed and worn out. I'm not sure what could have caused this... thoughts? Is this something that can affect the function of the IP? Any idea...

MEP-803 - Load testing not successful

After an hour of running I just checked temps again a bit above the red circle in the picture from my previous post. Here are the readings: 1. 350 F (Cyl closest to the radiator) 2. 322 F 3. 279 F 4. 294 F The third cyl reading is still lower... I cracked the line open and no fuel at all. I...

MEP-803 - Load testing not successful

I have it running now at 40% of capacity, no smoke with Seafoam in the fuel. L1 reads 22.4 A and L3 reads 22.8 A (the 120v fan in the load bank is connected probably to L3) Frequency is set stable at 60Hz, no hunting. The temperature reading of the exhaust ports changes depending where you take...

MEP-803 - Load testing not successful

I recently cleaned all injectors, one of them is new because the original had a clogged hole I couldn't clear. I also removed and cleaned two IPs that were gummed up. I might have messed up the IP install. Is it worth readjusting all pumps just in case? I only have two steps in the device I...

MEP-803 - Load testing not successful

I can manually compensate the frequency and increase the Hz to be as close as possible to 60. But isn't this supposed to be controlled by the governor? I assumed once you set the dial to a frequency the unit will take care of maintaining it. This genset is new to me and this is the first time...

MEP-803 - Load testing not successful

Hey guys, After all the help from this forum I managed to have this machine up and running. Without load it runs smoothly with almost no visible exhaust smoke. I have it now connected to the house electrical panel so all I needed was to complete a load test. For this I built a simple device...

    Injector bubbling

I think that also dabbing the washer in some grease as the TM states helps setting the washer. All injectors are now dry as a bone. Thanks again for your time and feedback.

    Injector bubbling

I pulled the injector out, cleaned the hole again, installed it back in with a new washer, clamped it down and hamered it just enough. I let it ran for a few minutes until the genset reached temperature and no leaks so far. It's a bit late here so i couldn't run it long enough. I'll post updates...

    Injector bubbling

I cleaned those holes well, or at least I thought I did. I even got a cleaning kit just for that from UK. It's only one injector doing this so I'll try today tapping it the best I can without removing the muffler. There goes my freshly painted clamp!

    Injector bubbling

Hey guys, Today i ran the MEP803 longer to test the power output and top off the coolant. After a while of running just fine i noticed the doors had fuel sprayed on them. I check everywhere until i noticed that one injector was bubbling, of course the one beneath the muffler. The fuel puddled...

    MEP-803a. Diesel sub-tank.

I just added the plans to post #17. I hope it helps... BTW, I ditched the fill cap they use by default and purchased a Gates 31803 fill cap with a SS316 2.5" nipple. In the drawings I added a plate on the left side to bolt on a pre-filter/water separator. You can keep it or just ignore it. If...

    MEP-803a. Diesel sub-tank.

I'm considering that option... SS tube lines and compression fittings. I would even gain a spare fuel pump. My only concern is not having that built in tank in case the fuel in the sub base tank goes bad. @Guyfang, Why would I need to move the fuel level switch if I reroute the fuel pickup line...

    MEP-803A won't start

It's alive!!! Properly installed MPU, clean pumps, clean injectors and started right up. Now I'll be doing the electrical installation to load test it. Wish me luck! Thank you very much to all for your support.

    MEP-803a. Diesel sub-tank.

A local shop built a sub-base tank for my MEP-803, 100 gallons. Here is their information: Engineered Manufacturing Corp. 3775 N.W. 81st Street Miami, FL 33147 305-693-0089 I have the plans around, I need to find them and I can post them here. You can just increase the height if you need more...

    MEP-803A won't start

Injector are now clean... except one. The nozzle of one of the injectors has ONE hole clogged and I can't clear it. I have it submerged in Diesel Kleen for days in this small ultrasonic machine but the sucker is not budging. I tried also a small brass wire but it is too flimsy for the task. The...

    MEP-803A won't start

Yes, 2-1/4" it is... definitely the injectors need deep cleaning. I cracked them all open and they all have the needle stuck in the nozzle. I'm soaking them one more night and tomorrow I'm cleaning them.

    MEP-803A won't start

What I could put apart for the injector pump it looks quite well/clean. The spring is not stuck, I can push it in and it moves. I haven't been able to pull it apart since I don't have a tool that can compress the spring to release the washer that keeps it in place. The lever moves but not...
