    Goats up for Auction

** Posted with permission from @patracy ** Two M561 Gama Goats are currently listed on Public Surplus. Both were used by Iron County (Utah) Sheriff’s Department Search & Rescue unit, comprised of volunteers. Both have sat outside without being used for several years. Several of the...

    Spoon’s build thread

Congrats! Looks like a nice truck! If you’re going to re-use WMO, I recommend a centrifuge & polishing/dewatering anything you plan on putting in your fuel tank. There are some great threads in the Alternative Fuels subforum. For the high-humidity & salt air environment you live in, I...

    Anti-freeze tire balancing ?

I tried that method several years ago using modified LMTV wheels. When dismounting tires to change them, I didn’t notice any volume loss BUT everything made of steel (even though painted/powder coated) was heavily rusted. Don’t know if I’ll ever do that again, it was a mess. But of course YMMV.

HEMTT Rim, Breaking loose the bead. No beadlock. Ideas to make this a smoother process.

Some of us are just poor working stiffs, can’t afford fancy expensive tools like you rich guys can…. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

HEMTT Rim, Breaking loose the bead. No beadlock. Ideas to make this a smoother process.

As others have said, go to NAPA and get a Ken-Tool duckbill hammer and two large tire spoons. The easiest way to wrangle these monsters is to use some kind of a lift (after breaking the beads), such as a gantry with chain hoist, an engine lift, or even a spare tire hoist mounted on a truck...

My new hobby: Wood military vehicles

I like seeing the entire process; that way it really shows just how much work (and magic touches) go into the finished models. Beautiful work, thank you for sharing!

Comical stenciling on 803 GOV planet today

True! Continuing with same location a few months later, Top was concerned that artillerymen were wandering through our area and commandeering some of our items (trash cans, etc..) for their own uses, so someone made some nice M60A1 tank silhouette stencils that Top got hold of. Once again, my...

My M35A2 is NMC in Columbus GA

Had the parking brake preventing reverse on a Deuce once… There are 3 springs on the parking brake; if one breaks or becomes disconnected, it will engage the parking brake when backing up. Check this first as it may not cost you much if just replacing a spring or adjusting the parking brake...

    1968 M35a2 over heating

Don’t think any yelling is called for here; nice to hear of a younger member with such an involvement with a Deuce, especially working one like they were made for. What did you flush your radiator with? Just water? Might try it again with a 50/50 mixture of distilled water & white...

    1968 M35a2 over heating

Harbor Freight carries one that is relatively inexpensive and works good…I use it quite a bit.

    I picked up a 1968 M51a2 and its "home"

Congratulations! Heck of a nice score for only $2K! Nice Steiger in the vid, too….don’t suppose it was part of the purchase….:ROFLMAO:

Comical stenciling on 803 GOV planet today

In 1986 at Camp Fuji, Japan, I was assigned to a working party one day with other members of my tank platoon. Top (Master Sergeant for the Company) told us to repaint & re-stencil the Paint/HazMat Locker, which was a small conex box. Repaint accomplished, we broke out the stencils to find that...

    Transmission oil cooler valve?

What are your IR gun temps on the coolant hoses running to/from heat exchanger? Just trying to verify coolant flow….

    Transmission oil cooler valve?

Is your fan clutch engaging to let fan come on?

M939 series radiator tank torque spec.

My guess would be expansion/contraction values of gasket material vs bolts/nuts vs radiator parts…but my guesses are usually way off.

Engine block drain cock for coolant change

Other options include (and are more likely what I used, especially a combination of these): Offset Boxed End Wrench Angle Wrench (link goes to Jumbo sizes, don’t know why they don’t carry the smaller sizes anymore) Flare Nut Wrench S-Shaped Boxed End Wrench I use these different shaped...

Engine block drain cock for coolant change

It’s been many years, but I believe that I removed the fender and exhaust as well as air filter and some other parts to be able to access it for removal & cleaning….I think I broke it loose from brass elbow with an open-end wrench of some sort (I have several different lengths for each size, a...
