I mounted the monitor to the top of the windshield frame with two rivnuts.
Are you just looking to have it repainted the same color, change color to another military scheme, or go for an automotive type new car finish?
If it's either of the first two just do it in your driveway / yard.
Crawl under it and look for the data plate on transmission and transfer case.
If you don't know much about them I'd take someone with you who does, will save you a headache later.

Is it possible that the holes in those rubber dog bones were slightly under sized compared to what the steel pins were? Maybe driving them in caused them to stretch / rip and then the tension did the rest.
