What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Had a good week. Fresh coat of paint on the body and touched up the running gear. New top and rear curtain. Assembled the doors and hung them this morning but I need to fine tune them a bit. Light bars mounted but still need to wire them up.

    ball joint removal

Get two hammers. Loosen the nut on the stud. Put one hammer on the back side of the casting that the ball joint stud goes thru. Take the other hammer and hit the other side of the casting. What you are trying to do with this method is make the tapered hole that the stud goes thru "less round"...

    HMMWV First aid kit

I think this may be the bracket you are asking about. My truck is an 86 model and this was mounted in the compartment between the batteries and door.

    HMMVW roll bars

The welds are all tigged. I now have a graceful way to get in the back of this thing. Grab the bars, put a foot on the tire and I'm in.

    HMMVW roll bars

The main hoop is 2 3/8's. The other tubes are a little under 2 inches. Easier to weld. This is much better than counting on the C pillar for anything. Hopefully I don't ever test it but it is much better than nothing,

Finished up around noon and rolled a quick coat of paint on. Hope to get the whole truck painted and reassembled next week.

    New Diff's & MPL covers

Very nice. They have tranny pans that you can tap into to run a temp gauge which I was sorta looking for. Thanks for the link.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

According to the internet.....GM actually got it right toward the end but gave up. The Navistar (spelling?) foundry was chosen because GM was having to replace too many Humvee engines. These folks made all of the Powerstroke blocks I think. From what I can gather the 6.5 NA are pretty much...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I finally found my block ID numbers. I was looking in the wrong place. It's a 2003 GEP engine. My truck is an 86 model. I think I got lucky...

    HMMVW roll bars

A little progress. The plates got cut on the waterjet today. I need to drill the angle this weekend and hopefully the pipe gets bent and welded next week. It will be as close to the shape of the C pillar as possible and have the same amount of forward slant/lean. The PVC is where I will get the...

    HMMVW roll bars

I'm having one built up now. It will bolt on using existing holes. It will mount just behind the existing C pillar. I will post pics when it's done.

Are 16.5” rubbers really that bad?

If someone is wanting new rubber for less than $1000 shipped check out Treadway Guard Dogs. It what's called a bead to bead recap. I had some on my HMMWV until I found 17 inch wheels and they are nice for the money. I have no dog in this hunt.
