Maybe I'm still misunderstanding you, but I don't have a crank hookup. The four hookups I have are:
ACC
BAT
IGN
and one in the middle (unmarked) which I assume is ground.
Okay, I see the error of my ways! It's worth listening to that buzzer if it has the potential to stop a 13,000lb vehicle from slamming into a bus full of kids.
Steelandcanvas, I do have the operators manual - this site graciously provided me with all the documentation I could ever need...
Kohburn, the ignition does have a momentary start position (against the spring like a normal vehicle) but I can't seem to get the wiring hooked up so it operates that way. I turn the key to the on position and the starter turns over, instead of turning the key all the way to the right, against...
I just checked the wiring; one wire was going to "Ignition" and one wire was going to the ground. That seemed correct, but I tried swapping the ground cable to "Battery", but it still operated the same way.
Seems that I can't find the right wiring setup to achieve ignition like a normal...
Well you know what, now that I think about it, I may have the wires hooked up to ground and battery (on this universal starter, accessory is to the left); in which case I would just have to move the cable to ignition to get the proper operation.
Hello again everyone!
I recently removed the push-button ignition and put a universal keyed ignition in the Deuce. On the ignition there are hookups for:
Battery
Accessory
Ignition
Ground
There were only two wires hooked up to my push-button starter. I hooked them up to Ignition and Ground...
Whistler gives you a little less power (I think I heard 10hp), it's not really enough of a difference to notice - and it gives you the awesome whistle!
Anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong; still learning =)
Just an update; I bought a new oil inlet tube from Delk's and that cleared my leak right up. Looks like I over-tightened that compression fitting. Thank god I didn't have to pull the turbo back off.
Thanks for the good advice everyone!
Thanks for the good advice Ken. When I get back home this weekend I'll see what I can do to get the bearing housing to rotate. I'm emailing with Delk's to see if they've got this oil inlet tube, but I hopefully I won't even need it...
Nothing for part #11642109 (NSN 4710-00-087-5407) on SaturnSurplus... I requested a quote from iso-group.com, but I'm not sure if that site is really what I'm looking for. Any secret to finding the part for this thing?
Hello again, everyone. I've recently changed out my "D" turbo for the whistler. Since the swap, my oil inlet tube (3 in the attached image) leaks where it threads onto the oil inlet adapter (8 ). I have cleaned the threads and tried some high-temp thread sealant, to no avail. I have looked...
I don't mean to steal the post; I just have a couple basic questions related to this:
Was I wrong in thinking my deuce had a generator, not an alternator?
What's good charging voltage on a 24v system?
If I install a battery quick-disconnect on one of the batteries, is there the potential for...
Update - turbo swap was a success! I'm obviously an amateur, because it took me about four hours to do it - but it was worth it.
On a side note, since I've had the truck it sounds like a belt squeaks immediately after startup, and sometimes at idle. Is there a hidden culprit, or should I just...
Gotcha. After I drain/clean the tanks, what do I have to do to prime the fuel system again? Just let the pump run for a minute before starting the truck?
I don't have access to 110 for a shop vac - I would have to find some other way to clean the tank. Looking at the manual, it talks about...
I have replacement filters; I suppose I should find out which are primary and secondary. I've been looking through the resources section for a m35a2 manual, but I didn't find it. I'll probably have to buy one on Ebay.
Actually, I think upon closer inspection that plate says "*something*...
Hello! I'm a USAF enlisted fellow new to the forums and new to military vehicles. I'm glad to be on the site! I have a truck that's titled as a 1957 REO Flatbed (M35A2?) - the guy I bought it from says the VIN plate is from a different truck, and that this one is actually a 1977 truck. I'm...
