I lubed most of mine last weekend while replacing the starter. 80% of them are easily accessible with the doghouse removed, and the ones in front of the starter can be gotten to from below with a bit of a reach.

I know well that the direction won't make that much of a difference, it just bothers me that someone wasn't paying attention. Since my fuel quality is now in question, I'm tempted to get a clear bowl for the strainer.

My guess is that arrow should be pointing the other way. $#&@%!!!

So Flu Farm, did you ever chase down that fuel line air leak issue one of your trucks was having? Mine may be coming down with the same bug. I'm waiting for new fuel filters to be delivered before I start troubleshooting.

It's kind of like the First Rule of Fight Club.

Did you get it figured out?? FWIW, I would go with what's in the manual. Assuming the paper one you are using contains all of the changes, it should be correct. I would think (hope?) that over the course of the 20 years these trucks were in service, a mistake that big in the manual would have...

You have a point about the Buy American sourcing requirements, which are very common, but there are usually exceptions. It all depends on how the need is defined, and how well the procurement request is written.

The Euro Unimog implement trading sites commonly have complete Schmidt FL4s available. Parts, not so much. Schmidt is a daughter brand of Aebi Schmidt Holding Group, based in Zurich, Switzerland.

You may have a dud. Stanley's own manual for the 1" drive IW16 says 8gpm is optimal flow at 1500-2000psi.

I second that, and peakbagger will likely also agree. Start upstream and work your way downstream in the air system. Even with the cab tilted you may have a hard time diagnosing an air-related trans problem if there is another unresolved issue between there and the compressor. In my case...

TAMMS Clerk? Hurry up with those 5988e's! :-) I haven't had to tilt the cab yet, but I vaguely recall seeing a diagram of it in the -20, or maybe the -24P.

To each his own! I kind of liked the idea of "no firm estimates or schedules" personally. And it would be a way to convince the wife that I need even more tools.

Yeah, that would be kind of amazing, no? For some reason I thought I remembered 3800 manufactured, not 2800....

And that's one of the reasons I'm not too worried about parts supplies in the future. With DOD releasing 3000+ of these, there should be plenty of parted out SEEs for years to come. It leaves me to wonder how many Unimogs are in the U.S. right now. Will the FLUs increase that number by 50%...

FWIW, mine has only1090mi on the odometer, but north of 10,000 hours on the engine. So I'm about 2,500 hours away from the recommended OM352 rebuild mark. I think relying on the mileage is a crapshoot; you could get a good truck or a problematic one either way. Less than half of GP's...

I searched some of the Euro sites too, hoping to find Schmidt loader parts, but without luck. Ended up walking into the local Kubota dealer. They made up an exact copy of the one hose I really needed in less than five minutes. Didn't even get a chance to look through all of their forestry...
