got screwed on an m939.... crap

Just for the A/C & the hardtop, that truck is worth fixing. Take your time & go one step at a time. The TMs do a good job of de-mystifying the bigger trucks, but once you get it running good you'll forget all about your Deuces!

    M923 Spring brake overide

The knob should NOT be pushed in under normal operating conditions, it should be pulled out. If you had a primary/secondary air system failure, and pressure dropped under 70 psi, then your spring brakes would engage on the rear axles & you wouldn't be able to move the truck. Then you would...

    Wheel ID

Just measure the bolt pattern and see if it fits a standard 10-lug Budd pattern.

    Wheel ID

Don't hub-piloted wheels require flanged nuts? I thought stud-piloted wheels typically have recessed openings, these looks flush as if they were hub-piloted. If the pic's filename is correct (in first post), the vehicle is an Oshkosh (in partnership with PVI) ALPHA, if that helps in your searches.

How to remove tire from MRAP wheels

That's pretty much what JOateyNV did for his.

How to remove tire from MRAP wheels

JOateyNV came up with a pretty good method of removing runflat inserts; he sent me a video a while back of him doing it.

How to remove tire from MRAP wheels

I'll share my method. It's probably wrong (of course), so someone who knows a better way please post it here. I've done about a dozen so far...remove valve core, then remove outer locknuts. You'll need a duckbill or forklift to break the bead, then remove the outer wheel half. Flip the...

    FMTV legality issue?

Fees are based on weight. When I first registered my 1975 Deuce at 14,001-lbs (smog check cutoff was 14K-lbs), the cost was $400/year. I switched it to Classic Vehicle the next year, it was $69. If it's for personal use, have the weight dropped to 6,001-lbs...the only problem is at that...

    FMTV legality issue?

Take it to the East Sahara DMV office for your VIN inspection when you register it...the head VIN inspector is MV-friendly and you shouldn't have any problems. If so, PM me. As long as the VIN matches from the dataplate to the frame, and to the SF-97, Nevada DMV doesn't care about anything...

    Air Leak Woes

Hate to rain on the parade, but quickfarms is correct. I asked a couple of CHP commercial enforcement officers this last year, and they confirmed what quickfarms said. Nevada Highway Patrol & Nevada DMV also concur with this, and the NV DMV won't even let you take a Class B driving test with a...

    mk48 night mare

Yup, still got it; member Augdog1964 just inquired about it. I looked at the HEMTT transfer cases mentioned here; they are almost half the size of the MK48/LVS transfer case...the LVS T/C is HUGE and weighs nearly 1600-lbs!! But my redesigned Deuce tire crane lifted it OK.

    found another thing!!

Very true; any idea why? Because of the gasser motor, or some other reason that they're not seen more frequently in collector's hands? I see lots in museums & static displays, haven't seen one from a collector though...

    New guy from Reno, NV

    found another thing!!

The APC with the Stuart turret resting on it looks like an old M75 APC...how close am I? The Stuart target has the remains of a radial engine in it....but I've seen some tank restorers start with worse and end up with a like-new running tank. It has potential if one can find parts.

    Caiman MTV

Good luck with it & be safe!
