    letssleds M-135 Project

Hmmm, I think Operation plowshare would be very fitting......kinda what I am doing although much less boom..... My kids promised never to grow up..... On second thought, I am going to leave it Manual steering and hand crank to start.....

    letssleds M-135 Project

Well have the frame laid out and squared up. Out 1/32" over 26', I think that is close enough. Mock layup of of the fenders and cowl on the frame almost looking like a truck :-) I think I am going to lower the doors and door frame 2.5". That will allow me to cut off the bottom inch of...

    letssleds M-135 Project

That Cat comes with a factory air comp and power steering pump, all gear driven. However, I am going for dual circuit hydraulic brakes and modern disc brakes on all wheels. I am going to use a Ford F550 rotor and hopefully adapt an ABS system in if I can find something available of a med duty...

    letssleds M-135 Project

I did, but admittedly very briefly.....In my learning days I worked with the 53 series. I certainly can attest to there reliability, I just don't want any to deal with noise, oil leaks and faulty super charger shutoffs. Plus a lot of there older stuff was pretty heavy weight wise. Admittedly...

Cutom Axles and housings for the Deuce

I think this is your only option: http://www.ouversonusa.com/rockwell_490_gearset.php These are 4.90 - 1. Or you can put the T1138 transfer case in that would give you .72 to 1 o/D

Cutom Axles and housings for the Deuce

Just wondering if anyone can recommend custom housings and gear set companies for the deuce? I am looking for a company that can manufacture the housings, modify axles, gear sets etc. Need to be in the medium duty range though...Dana 44's won't cut it ;-). Hard to find companies that can...

    letssleds M-135 Project

Hey PB :-) great to hear from you. Thanks again for all your help! The 3306 is great in that there is literally nothing on the rear of the engine, just the throttle linkage for the pump. I think to keep noise and heat levels down I have to extend the engine bay. There is only 48" of space...

    letssleds M-135 Project

Thanks for your reply :-), I am replacing the entire floor and building a full enclosed roll cage. I have 5 kids and I want to insure they are protected to the best of my ability. Plus I want to put in a very large heated rear window. So when I started digging into things it made more sense...

    letssleds M-135 Project

letssleds M-135 Project - Operation Plowshare Well I guess it is time for me to start me thread. After a few false starts, I am finally on the go. Special thanks to Plowboy (member here) for all of his help. Basically I am joining 3 cabs together to seat 8. Custom frame and a Cat 3306 for...

    Window, Door, Windshield weatherstrip, etc

Has anyone considered installing or extending a steel frame and fully enclose the glass similar to modern vehicle doors? This would fully cover the glass perimeter and hold it in tight. It might require modifying the cab fram though. IMO that might cut down on the road and air noise.

    M923 CrewCab Project

What were the radius you used for the sheet metal for the corners? Do you think you could incorporate the corners and roof all in one piece?

M939 Series Transfer Case O/D ratio and Part Number

Hello all, I have been looking for a transfer case with O/D and was told the M939 series had just that. Something around a .732:1 ratio in high range and 1.7ish for low range. I just want to confirm those numbers and if possible get the part number for the case? Thank You letssled

    6 Door Deuce Crew Cab

This is what I plan to do to a M-35 or M-135. I think the 4 door idea would work the best, eliminates the door over the rear wheels. Biggest hold up I have right now, is finding axles with a lower ratio AND retaining the 6x6....That said, I would suggest looking at installing an air ride...

M-35 Frame Dimensions and type of steel

Hey Guys, thank you very much! I am from Canada and I am planning a duece project, but unfortunately there are next to none up here. Nonetheless, I have located one in the USA and I am planning a trip to purchase it but want to insure it will suit my needs first; and I think a 6x6 is a...

M-35 Frame Dimensions and type of steel

I was just wondering if someone could post the dimensions of the frame for the M-35? I was told 3" x 8" .375" formed channel, but I just want to verify. Also does anyone know what type of heat treatment(if any) was applied? I have exhausted all search functions on this site and google :-(...

    M35a3 axle replacement

That is what I said, but he said there was a reserve bid/conditional clause so if I wanted it I would have to pay another $5000. I guess I will have to pay closer attention to online auctions, when I won the bid it read as "conditionally sold" but there was nothing to elude there was a reserve...

    M35a3 axle replacement

Talk about getting the rug pulled out from under my feet! Went to go pick up my M135 at the auction and "they" forgot to tell me/us there was a conditional clause built into the unit. So I would have to pay an additional $5000. To get it. Looks like I am back to square one!

    M35a3 axle replacement

I am lowering to make it easier to get in and out for my wife and kids, and most importantly so I can get it to clear my 8' garage door. For a tranny I am thinking of a MT654 at minimum. The cat 3306 and cummins 6 CTA both turn counter clockwise. But I might go to a Alision 7000 series...

    M35a3 axle replacement

Yeah, sry I always miss the one.....I paid me yearly dues but the title isn't editing (only right to support the site :-P) It is a 1953 GMC M135 6x6. I plan to put a cat 3306 or cummins 8.3 CTA. I like the old school engines instead of the 3116 I want to extend the cab as well, so there...
