    Re: Optima Battery Woes

I sold a lot of AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries over the years, but then, that was a lot of years ago when I owned my speed shop. One of the positives about the batteries (no pun intended, really!) was that unlike a conventional wet cell battery, an AGM could be discharged to zero and still...

Drove home from Las Vegas to San Diego today, had to reroute because of the fires. The 15 was closed through the Cajon Pass due to the fires. Had to go cross country through the desert via Searchlight, Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley to get to the 10. Made it a seven hour trip. Small price to pay...

If anyone knows how to get in touch with Ray, I would be very grateful. Have a few issues with DMV on an early M35 here in San Diego. Willing to talk to anyone knowledgeable before tackling DMV again. Thanks!John

    PEASHOOTER's M109A3 CAMPER Build Thread

I've found when I need to type or post something with letters from a different language, or with hyphens or special characters my keyboard doesn't have, I just do a search on the Internet, then copy and paste into my reply or post.

    Knockout in grill shell

Perhaps he means these. On my early M35, I have two holes, one on either side of the grill. The on on the passenger side is covered by a small grill. The one on the driver's side looks like it had a cover or cutout / knockout that was removed. Now it's just a hole.

    Brought it home! M35 bobbed

Yeah, we shouldn't be lacking pictures for a while. Everything is definitely stowed, always ready to slip the lines and take off. Looking forward to lots of fun wrenching on the truck.

No apologies necessary! Everyone gave such detailed information, I was able to follow the clues and go straight to the number. I don't need no stink'n pictures. [thumbzup]

    Can't find stamped VIN

Found it! Thanks everyone (NDT, Valence, Robo McDuff and Kaiser67M715!) It was above the front spring perch as mentioned and once cleaned it was easily visible. Thankfully, it also matched the serial number on the data plate. Once again, a profound Thank You to everyone who helped!

    Can't find stamped VIN

Thanks, I think the info everyone has sent, including this, has really helped me pin down the area. I'll spend my time in that area and post here what I find.

    Can't find stamped VIN

Thanks. Top of the frame rail or side? Within the confines of the wheelwell, or forward towards the bumper?

    Can't find stamped VIN

Working on a 1953 Studebaker built M35 with a gas REO engine. Based on info from several threads here I looked on the left front frame rail behind the front tire. Scraped then paint stripped it down to bare metal, no numbers visible, even faint ones. This area has been mentioned several...

Been there, done that way too many times to count, I just don't have cool pictures to back 'em up. You really do have a beautiful truck, I'd do whatever It took to get it home also.
