    Arduino 4L80e controller

I believe he’s just offering a commercial alternative. The headaches have already been encountered so there is a dollar amount for that! I encourage you to go down the DIY path but in my opinion most DIY efforts often fall short. Not a reflection of you. Just in general I’ve seen few be as...

    Arduino 4L80e controller

Yeah good idea to validate on the bench first. If you have some experience with the Arduino then consider an ESP 8266 or ESP 32 for the controller. A lot faster and allows for WiFi and or Bluetooth control (in 32). After you have it in the vehicle you will want to tailor limits, observe...

    Arduino 4L80e controller

I see a few others have tried to use an Arduino to control the transmission. I only caution you to filter your inputs both electrically and digitally (average readings). I’m a 30 year electrical engineer and have done plenty of Arduino projects. If this is your first or second project you will...

    M38A1- Need engine rebuild advice

Under load popping is indicating weak spark. Verify all your plugs and wires are in good shape. A faulty cap and rotor can cause this as well. Once you fixed the vacuum leak did you readjust the idle mixture screw? It will pop primarily when you let off throttle if mixture is off. Sent...

    Ignition Security

Sorry to post to an old thread but I added a GPS tracker to a vehicle recently. Used one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T8938RY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Along with a SIM from TruPhone. Only about 9 cents a day to self monitor. Same type of geo fence and...

    1955 m38a1

Didn’t see this earlier. The Gillespie is fine if it’s cured well. We had the frame out in the rain after spraying and water spots were annoying. We found that if the paint cures for about a month your good to go. Had it out Veterans Day in the rain. No issues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Adding a battery disconnect switch

I disagree with your assertion the gear will see reverse polarity. It will still see the same 12V as earlier when the ground was hooked up. Just none of the 24VDC gear will see the proper voltage. The 12v gear will still be powered and not provide the desired cutoff. I didn’t follow your...

    Custom Security System

Look into the sleeper cell alarms. The new Super Cell is gps and allow for live updates so 24/7 you will know where your gear is at. The original sleeper cell uses no power till an alarm Is tripped. Also sms texts you location. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    1955 m38a1

Thanks for the comments. I’m sure my son will enjoy them. He is a bit of perfectionist and this was his first vehicle rebuild. I hadn’t done one in about 30 years! We will have to post a pic or two of the before shot. Think drug out of a field and very rough. Saved running gear, fuel tank, rear...

    1955 m38a1

This is a project my son and I took on about 16 months ago. Was a lot of fun to get it to this point. Several items are not stock (24V to 12V), gama goat rear light lenses, etc...

    M38A1 body numbers?

Unfortunately the hood was sanded bare as we tried to remove carefully but got nothing. We are going with a contrived number that seems to be in the range for that year and approximate month. 20974784. 20 for the prefix of a 1/4 ton, the 9 was seen in original period correct time frame photos...

    M38A1 body numbers?

Sorry to post to older threads but I just joined and saw this. I have a 1955 and the original tub serial number plate I have is MD74784. Only two numbers earlier than yours. Mine is a July 1955 model from what I can tell. My engine number is a different number and from what I understand that is...
