Have allready been there once before trying to do a mod wich went wrong and I restored it back to original.
But thanks for the tip anyway, it´s fixed now.
It was the battery pos. cable that went out.
And that was it, found the problem.
The main battery cable had started to come loose inside the insulation closest to the battery connection.
Tried starting the engine with a jumper cable from the battery plus to the relay and voila, started right up.
Had it running for a while, shut it off, and...
After doing a gearbox oil and gasket change.
When we finished of the job, we went for a short drive to let it go through all the gears.
All well til now.
Let it sit for a week, tried to get it started, turned the key and everything went blank.
As soon as I turn the key, light on instrument goes...
Fixed.
I got it running again, with a new starter and a new generator and a new regulator (the one on the firewall).
It´s only that with the new regulator it still charges a bit high (14.9 volts).
Better than the old one (18-19 volts).
Now some other stuff has given up, but that might be due to...
Well, it´s been awhile.
I have bought a new (reman) alternator, but I don´t really know how to connect the wiring.
The alt has 2 field prongs, but the car has a normal (original) voltage regulator with original wiring and connector.
That wiring is also going to where the alt sits, but can...
The engine doesn´t turn over, the starter doesn´t even make a noise/click.
The only thing that says click is the starter relay when I either turn the ignition and/or jump the large pos. bolt on the starter and the large black cable to the starter.
That should make the starter turn, but nothing...
Well I could be a bit dumb here, but does anybody know on this Ford starter relays what is what?
I know one of the bigger bolts on the side is for the batt. connection.
When you try to start the engine with one starter cable on the positive batt. post, where do you put the other end, ignition is...
Ok, I´ll see what I can find out and see if it works, the previous owner(s) left a few other relays behind this one but they are not connected anymore.
I guess they died and they didn´t bother to even remove them...
Hi everybody, I think I screwed the starter.
Truck is a former army m884 (or 885, not sure if the cab is original).
Anyway, it has the 318 engine.
I was doing some rewiring under the hood when I bypassed the AMP gauge.
Cut the large black one coming from the alternator, lenghtened it to...
You don't happen to know where to buy new bolts, and should they be just conic like the old ones used or do they have a sort of centering ring?
Or is there another way to center the wheels on the disc/hub?
I meant the additional 24 volt system is no longer present, the large battery tray is the...
Well how about that, it wasn't the bearings or joint after all...
Only one thing left, the wheel bolts were loose, 4 of 8 were a little loose, and 2 were GONE.
Found out that the previous owner replaced them with whatever he had laying around after someone had tried to steal the wheels.
So now I...
So it is a universal joint what is visible at the wheel?
I never heard of a CV joint, I´ll try to find some pics on google what that is then.
I´m working out all week, so no car to check upon right now, but I´ll check more closely like you described when I get home.
I´ll try to post a pic of it...
Hello everybody, I live in Sweden and have bought myself a W200/M884.
It was about 300 miles away, but got some help to get there to pick up the truck.
I got it home, started with some minor stuff like interior dome light that didn´t work, but after a few days driving around town, I started...
I'm not sure about that aircraft pulling thing either, but there are some funny people over there in Belgium. Not if it was a US base, right now it's black (with a paint roller). Is/are the bumpers the only way to track down where it served? What is the plate for that is mounted in the cab near...
I saw a thread about an M 880 where someone traced down where that particular vehicle served its time, did he only use the vin number or was there something else to it?
I just bought an m 884 from 1977 and am interested in where they used it, the previous owner said something about pulling...
