    802a starter question

Well, I'm the winner of 2 802A's from the Ft Meade auction that just closed at 5pm today. I think I got decent units, but it seems to be a crapshoot so we'll see. One of them had the exhaust flap, and the other one I'm guessing had it...there was a thin coat of snow on the entire top, and I'm...

    M101A2 Wheel Adapter

So I've been talking to a manufacturer for these adapters and they want to know what the thread size is on the trailer lugs. The ones on my truck are 14mmx1.5, and that's what they provide with the adapters - they can provide different ones and tell me for sure whether or not they will work for...

    M101A2 Recovery Today

I'm planning to cut off the bolts so they arent as long - not sure I want to weld it on; its a cheap harbor freight jack and may not last too long.

    M101A2 Recovery Today

I already have the ball rolling with them to get registered, but I still requested the SF97 - could come in handy in the future.

    M101A2 Recovery Today

Ok - for everyone that wanted pictures on the new jack that I put on, here they are. My post above has the info on where I purchased it and how much. It looks like it could be turned and mounted the other direction and get the bolts a little closer to the frame - I just noticed that after...

    M101A2 Recovery Today

Thats an idea - where did you get those from? I havent studied too closely how the chains are attached - are they just bolted on and can be unbolted and swapped out for the cables or is it more involved than that? How much does a set of those cables run? I was a little shocked earlier today...

    M101A2 Recovery Today

I'll work on getting some more pics of the new landing leg. It was a HD unit from harbor freight thats rated to 1500 lbs tongue weight. Price listed was $32, but I had a 25% coupon, so it only cost me $25...

    M101A2 Recovery Today

Good to know about adding the 0's to the serial number to get 17 numbers for the VIN - do you add them before or after the serial number? Ever run into and problems with the VIN listed on the paperwork technically not matching the vehicle because of all the extra 0's?

    M101A2 Recovery Today

I was planning on sending the form to request the SF97, but I didnt know that it would include a bill of sale - good info to have. Thanks!

    M101A2 Recovery Today

Well, went and recovered my first M101A2 today. Purchased from GL at APG in Maryland. Seems to be in decent shape - the canvas top has a couple of minor rips, there's some rust on the lunnette, and the data plates are scratched up some, but overall, not bad cosmetically. I probably paid a...

    M101A2 Wheel Adapter

That's a good question that I don't have the answer for, but it sounds like I'll be ok since there seem to be others running this same setup. I was thinking that the 8x170 tires may be slightly wider, but I think that the 2" offset from the adapter should make up for that if its the case...

    M101A2 Wheel Adapter

Thanks for the info - glad to hear that someone else went this route without any problems. It sure seems like that would be way easier than replacing or drilling out the hubs and drums. Thanks everyone!

    M101A2 Wheel Adapter

Thanks for the info guys. I was hoping that I could just bolt-on the adapters and go, but no one's even mentioning that so I'm guessing that its a no-go? I don't know anyone with a machine shop. Any chance that the hubs and drum are replaceable with a different bolt pattern without replacing...

    M101A2 Wheel Adapter

Interesting idea - do you have any info like a writeup or how-to on this? Thanks!

    M101A2 Wheel Adapter

Hey guys - About the only thing I know about tire/rim fitment is that I don't know much about it!!! aua What I know: * I think I know that my M101A2 comes stock with GM 16inch diameter 8x6.5 wheels * I know that my Excursion and my F250 both come stock with 16inch 8x170mm wheels...

    M101A2 Height Question

Sorry - my reading comprehension sucks today (my wife would argue that it sucks every day, but.....) - I completely missed the line about the surge brakes. Those just became MUCH more interesting! I PM'd the owner - have a question about the tires, and title. Thanks!

    M101A2 Height Question

Sorry for the confusion - I did notice that the link you sent me was for the 105's, and while I'd like the extra bed space, I'd have to put a fair bit of money into it to get brakes (unless there's some cheap way to convert the air over hydraulics to be compatible with my civi truck. I'm not...

    M101A2 Height Question

Thanks for the input. I actually found a guy here locally that is selling an A3 - Says its a '97 M101A3, converted to 12V, new safety chains, tires in good shape, and comes with a spare, all bows and a cover, and the parking and surge brakes all work correctly, and it has a clear title. He's...

    M101A2 Height Question

Good point - I didn't even look at the width. Definitely a deal killer since my ATV width is 47 1/2", so I'll probably need to look at either the A3 or the M105. Gross weight for the M101A2 is right around 2800#, and I believe the payload is around 1500# - I'm guessing pretty close to the same...

    M101A2 Height Question

I replied to you earlier, but apparently a mod needs to review that post before its available (I think because I included the links that you sent, and I'm not special enough yet to get to post links). I did read the TM, but was unable to find specific info. I would greatly appreciate if you...
