Since those are swapped axles (none were made that way originally), they're going to be fairly rare. If my goal was to have an M1009 with M1008 axles, I think I'd buy a nice M1009, and get a non-running M1008 for the axles. That way you'd have all the parts, and then you'd have a lot of other...
OK, so I know it runs. I did the electric fuel pump mod, and temporarily ran it straight to the battery just to get it primed and going. I think I'll like that mod. The things I noted are:
1. The crank pulley wobbles a tad. It's not all over the place, but I can see it. Harmonic...
For reference, if someone needs to replace the fuel filler hose on an M1009, it's NAPA part number 1035. Get 14" of it and you're golden.

Yeah, I have 4 new looking (tread-wise, they may not be brand new) Wranglers on this one. They look good.
However, someone was kind enough to slice the fuel filler hose. I poured some perfectly good diesel on the ground. It doesn't look fun to get to the hose connection on top of the tank...
Well, it's here. It's time to get to work and see what I can do. It's drained of fluids, but it doesn't look like the driveshaft is bent. I'll find out soon enough!
Yeah, I pretty much disregarded the description, and went on what I can see. I hope mine is in similar condition, still having fluids in it. Good luck with yours! I'd like to see how yours comes along. I'll post mine back in this thread.
I bought mine sight unseen for a grand total of $924 with the fee. It's costing me about $270 to get it home, so I don't think I'll hurt myself too much with $1200 total in it. I'll let you know Saturday afternoon when it gets here!
Carnac, just bought this one. I'm new to all this, but thank you!

That's my auto auction experience, too. You just never know why one goes high or low. I figure at that price, if it's too far gone and I just get rid of it or part it out that I'll recoup my money, or make some. I can't wait to get it!
Well, I either got a good deal, or now have a parts truck. I won this one for $840 + 10%. I wonder why it went cheaper than the rest? It looks ok in and out. What's the verdict?
Hey, I actually will be going through there on the way to Louisiana on business around 09/11-09/13 or thereabouts. If possible, maybe I could stop by and see what you have!
I definitely plan on having to put some money into it prior to it even leaving the driveway. I know these have been kicked around! I'll have to win a bid and have it shipped, so it'll get a thorough going over. I'm mechanically inclined, and automotively inclined, but the diesel is new to me...
My approach is that I don't care if it's cosmetically a little worse off, and I really don't have any intention of doing much of a cosmetic resto. This is staying on the cheap. I'd rather stay on the cheap side up front, and let it nickel and dime me to death along the way. :D
I will...
Thanks for the responses. I won't have the luxury of seeing in person before buying, so I'll have to roll the dice a little. I don't mind, as I've been buying auction vehicles for many years, and know that I might get a winner or a loser. I really just want one for the heck of it, so I don't...
Good evening! I've been thinking of buying a CUCV, and now there are a few on GL that are close enough for me to consider. I think I want an M1008, but I'm open to an M1009. All of these have had fluids drained, batteries removed, but most look otherwise complete. Are these usually in need...
