The powder coating solution sounds workable, and likely not too pricey. The worst there is you reduce the diameter of the filter holes a little bit. But that actually makes it a finer (more effective), filter, right? Any reason then that powder-coating WOULDN'T work out?

It's funny, because just from a marketing angle they might have drawn more sales traffic from curious shoppers pulling in to check out your rig. But he's a security officer, and I'm a sales guy by background. So that explains that.
