Adjust the control cable OR Drill a 3/8's hole where the control handle bottoms out and use a air hacksaw to connect the slot to the hole. That gives you more throw and you can now winch in
That would be AWESOME !! As I am still learning........Bought an electric grease gun for the 49 thousand grease fittings the rig has,it would be a LOT of hand squeezings..........
Stinger is what it is,NO FOLD.......As far as the springs that's a Jerr Dan back rated somewhere between 8 and 12 thousand pound capacity. You won't even deflect the original spring with normal safe loading
Since acquiring my 936 I've been trying to figure out how to use the Drag winch and crane at the same time. As I seldom go out staffed as the vehicle was in original service. Friday I installed a Lodar remote and it does exactly what I wanted to do. I can run the Drag from the crane station or...
With Crane work you KNOW exactly what you are lifting..........or you don't lift.......In Towing/Recovery those absolutes don't exist at Odark thirty on the side of the road. You make educated projections based on what intel you can glean. I suspect the individual lifting the trailer knows...
Proper craneing and Wrecker craneing are two distinct animals. When kept in line with the Long axix of the truck you CAN,Safely do things you should not anfd would not attempt with a proper crane. Same applies to commercial rotators, they do jobs every day that should NEVER be attempted with a Crane.
8-92 is a VERY simple diesel.basically a fat holed 8-71 with a few other changes.....once you 'GET' how they work.......BIGGEST issue is setting the rack correctly. Unless someone messed with it you shouldn't have to touch it to get it running. SHOULD be 2 shutoffs, one electric and a Manual...
NOT interested in running 3 part line or running the length of the boom. Take a look at a modern Century or NRC(Secondary turret winches) to see what I'm talking about. Can't use drag to do what I want,it HAS to be controlled from the Crane station. It's only function would be a catch line or a...
I was thinking more along the lines on a Warn or Ramsey planetary........Much lighter and holds 125-150' of 3/8's or 7/16ths wire. My question is on valving . Do the stock valves have power beyond port type hydraulics? Thinking maybe one piggybacked to the Drag too to help when I'm shorthanded...
936 winch mod
Jeff, as you are quite knowledgable about these(and I'm just learning)You hard would it be to rig and plumb a second winch say 12-15 K behind the roller on the main doom(near stay rods). The reason? Controlled rolls and/or to help control akward loads. Your Thoughts?
