    Bid (and lost) on M1083 in NYS Govplanet auction, but I got the bug

    How about buying one from a private party? Do you know how wxpensive it is to have a FMTV transported to your location? And hoe much it will coat to make it driveable? You will soon learn that this is not a hobby you will fo on a budget. Or you'll have to know these in and out and can work on them.

I used 99% alcohol and did three passes. first with the injector whole. second, with the injector cracked a bit ( so the parts could move inside) then I tool it apart and cleaned the lower portion again.     Are the injectors under tension when they come apart? Just to make sure stuff doesnt go flying when i take one apart. And will I need a vice or similiar to reassemble or do the parts just slide in the injector?

    ehuppert, how did you know you had to replace them? What kind of symptoms did the truck show? I looked on my truck and they looked actually less bad , than my shocks.

    Will definitely get new lockbolts. Thank you for the tip, cucvrus. a 1/2" bolt is definitely better than a 3/8" whrn it comes to removal down the road.

    I use copper grease myself. Although that logic doesn't make sense. Maybe someone else someday will thank me that I've used it. But it wont benefit me for sure. Who knows what trucks ill have in 20 years

    On a more positive note: I found out that the rear wheel cylinder were not leaking (bought new ones though). I didn't replace them, yet. because the bolts were so totally rusted that they were almost round (crapp). So what is leaking is the seal. I'll see if AutoZone has a loaner tool to get the...

    I remember having taken the instrument panel out so many times in various CUCV and almost always wound up breaking something and get really annoyed. I got a burned out bulb and still try to resist the temptation of taking that sucker out. So I'll crawl under the dash and try that way first.
