Loaner trailer from joediveguy is all strapped down with gimpy's crap, er, I mean, quality merchandise, truck is serviced with an oil change and checked everything related to coolant system (it's had issues recently), ready for 530 miles tomorrow. All I need to do is get my camping gear...
joediveguy is coming by tomorrow afternoon with a utility trailer and a cutting torch, so we can start the process of loading gimpy's M101 trailer frame/axle/etc. for the trip out there. Have to remove the scrap body from his frame, then load to the utility trailer, as his trailer frame has no...
Haspin Acres is a big place, but not that big that you'll get lost forever. The main trails are always well-patrolled, and the back areas we only really go out on in groups, so you'll have good company.
When I went there in 2010, I had a M37 with me that I picked up on the way there (eBay...
Two places I have seen:
1. Under the bench seat on the passenger side.
2. If it didn't have a bench seat (instead had two spring seats), mount would be vertical bolted to the rear of the cab, on the floor, between the two seats.
Got no money to invest in it right now, barely making ends meet. Hope to change that shortly, maybe then I'll look into what he has. He's too far from me for the big stuff, though.
Put in more thought about the basic layout. I'm not a tech guru with a drafting program, I just have Windows Paint, but you can see the basic layout I want.
Bottom is the doorway.
Left side is living quarters and related, storage, a place for a microwave, dorm fridge, possibly a sink and...
Nice save! There was one here locally for sale, it was a lot worse than yours is, a parts unit at best. Yours could use some sandblasting and TLC, but another M104 is saved from the crusher!
A word of caution: lots of guys call these trailers "dump trailers", because you can pull out the two forward cargo body pins and dump the trailer contents. THERE IS NO WHERE IN THE MILITARY MANUAL THAT TELLS ABOUT A "DUMP" FEATURE ON THE M101 TRAILER. While you can do this, the "dump" feature...
Items I will be bringing to sell at the rally:
5-ton mud flaps and brackets
deuce/5-ton softtop frame
bunch of storage boxes, various shapes,
some vehicle and trailer manuals
I also have some halftrack parts, I will only bring them if someone requests them in advance.
This brings up the old thread of some guy out west who was offering something like 2,000 gallons of free vaseline. Can you use it as fuel in a deuce? Uh...... no? LOL
And 4 years from now, CGarbee retires from his job in for NC-DOT, and he says then he can attend all the rallies he wants to, which hopefully means CATERED HASPIN again! Let's cross our fingers and hope for the day...
clinto is laughing right now. He's been holding a rally in October that has gotten bigger no matter the year, Haspin on the other hand is still big, but seems to be losing the core people who made it great in the first place. Economy? Lack of interest? I don't know. I want to not blame it...
Believe me when I tell you, the question is not what ham radios we install in our vehicles, but how we are able to hear anything when operating them over the din of the engine noise. In the larger MVs, headphone operation or an amplified loudspeaker are almost required to hear your radio...
