Sorry for the lack of updates. Work has been a bear. Got the truck and trailer back to SA on Monday at a pretty good cost from a local wrecker company. Insurance company (Gulfway/Travelers) has been fantastic and the truck is not being totaled, so we should he able to start tearing things apart...
Well, the belt repair went great. Was staying at 45 mph and stopping every hour. Was 60 miles from.home going through Austin and got cut off at about 35-40 mph. I had the choice of rear ending him or braking and hitting a wall. Pictures tell the rest.
Around 50. Just spent the last 5 hours sourcing a couple of belts. Had one in the engine let go and decided to replace the pair, and if course it was the two I didn't have. Though there was a transmission knock, but may have been the belt coming apart and knocking around the engine. Made it to...
So far so good. Made it to West Mephis about an hour ago. Truck has been fantastic so far, with the exception of a newly cracked windshield when I got here, oops. Hope to leave tomorrow around 9am and make it to just south of Dallas.
Put her up on FB for sale today. She runs and the brakes work, just trying to get a fuel leak from the fuel shutoff or hydraulic head under control now.
Thanks, Much appreciated.
I think I lucked out. I don't get on the site as much as I used to and just happened to glance at it about 30 mins after he posted it. The money stars aligned and I got a great deal.
M818 W/M348A2 Road Trip MO to TX. 08-11JUN19
Good afternoon SSers. I am heading up to MO from San Antonio, TX to pick up an M818 w/M348A2 trailer. I will be leaving SATX in my car on 08JUN and taking 35N up to Oklahoma City, OK where I will pick up a buddy who will be following me back in my...
Not sure what route you are taking. But I am here in San Antonio if you need any help. I drove from Vegas to San Antonio doing a full Dity in Aug 12, long drive in an M109.
I am having a major issue with fuel entering the oil, to the point where the fuel/oil mixture it is draining from the slobber tube. I emptied 10 gal of oil/diesel from the pan. Would a leaking shutoff o-ring allow fuel to mix with the oil at some point in the IP? Would rather fix that than the...
So, in lieu of the meet and eat I will be at the below living history event. Hopefully some more can make it out. Sounds like it is a larger event, should be a great time.
17th Annual History Faire at Frank M. Tejeda Middle School Saturday, 6 April 2019, 0930-1600.
2900 Evans Road off US 281...
Would be great to meet you. Going to try and do more going forward now that my unit is starting to get new personnel in, freeing me up to do more fun stuff.
We are going to try and get some more stuff going, more often.
Well, going to have to pull the plug on the 6th, just found out about a...
It has been awhile and I think it's time to have a meet and eat for whoever wants to show up. April 6th at 1200 at the Jim's across from the Rolling Oaks Mall.
7000 North Loop 1604 W, San Antonio, TX 78266
Hope to see some of you there. Bring the truck, civy ride, family or come solo. All are...
Well, ended up bleeding the brakes a bit more and they worked just fine. Took it on a drive today and she sounded a bit odd and sluggish. Got out to look at the engine and there is fluid all over the passenger side of the truck from the slobber tube. Checked the oil and it is well past the full...
Well, I ordered a airpack rebuild kit and will rebuild one I previously took off the truck. Hopefully replacing that and re-bleeding the system will fix the problem.
M52A2 gremlins
This truck has been giving me issues since I got it. But isn't that part of the fun, lol? So when I picked it up last year the previous owner had hooked up airlines from his other ruck to this one and busted a brake line/the brakes were locked up. I bled the brakes and towed it...
As part of getting my M52A2 running I am replacing the old style alternator with a newer one. I have a new wiring harness for the new alternator but once I removed the old alternator realized that the old harness has 3 prongs that go into the control box, the new one has 4 and seems to be...
