I knew that I was going to get that advice.:( That spring was such a major pain to get in place!
I read the TM time and time again to make sure that they wanted you to have the spring on top of the nut. I even got some pics from someone else on a different thread that shows it on top of the nut...
I'm clear on the method of adjustment but look at the photos I posted. If I turn the bolt (11) down until it touches the shoe it looks like the spring will no longer have enough bolt above the lock nut to stay in place. At that point I would still need to turn down even farther to push the shoe...
I have the TM, it's 9-2320-361-24-1 and they give the clearance between shoe and drum as 0.015".
I feel that if I adjust the adjusting bolt on the outer shoe down enough to get that clearance then the spring will pop off the end of it.
I've been jacking around w/ the parking brake adjustments all day. The first issue was that because the spring in the photo wasn't on they had adjusted the cable end almost to the bottom. It's taken me several sessions of non-stubby wrench turning. If fact you can see where I have the adjustable...
That's been my plan as well, only I was hoping to build a sleeper type box in the front of the bed and then have the stack behind that.

And this is the solar panel I use to keep the truck charged and ready to go.
It's a mil grade P-3, folding, 24v solar panel. I put a port into the cab wall and a charge controller inside so that I never have to worry about overcharge.

Similar to my setup but since the CB needed 12v I did the step-down converter. The toggle turns on the step-down and then supplies power for the CB, tablet (or laptop), phone, and extras. The ports are also illuminated w/ red light for nighttime visibility.

With the step-down you shouldn't even need the inverter, just some 12v dc outlets wired to the 12v side of the converter. I have a double ported USB outlet and an older standard, the so called cigarette lighter outlet, as well as my CB wired to the 12v side. If you want to get fancy put a fuse...
Then I think what you really want is a 24 - 12 volt reducer (don't remember off the top of my head what they're called). Checked, they are known as Step Down Converters.
I have one installed that does just that as well as powering my CB and my nav tablet.

Can I ask what you want an inverter for that only works when the truck is running? I've put inverters in but only on "house batteries" for things that need ac when parked up.
The FDC is one if its not bypassed, and the O-rings in the hydraulic head is another usual place.
I bypassed my FDC a decade ago but now I'm about to replace the rings in the HH for just that reason . . . it started making oil and my oil pressure dropped, especially when warm.
