IP actually works at it to get one of these running, not like GL who would stop at trying to jump start it. IMHO if they say could not be started, bid with the knowledge that you will be replacing the engine..
Me and snow do not seem to sync up well.
When my Unimog 404 was up and running we got a good snow 3 times that year. All 3 times it was down for work.
My 1980 GWagon was getting a new motor during the winter so never got to try that.
My 5 ton, No snow while I had it.
Now that I have 2...
Avondale FD also had a Unimog, they do like their toys. I saw this at the New Garden air show maybe a year ago. It is clean but if you want stock it will be some work to get it there.
Do you want 2 or 4 door ?
Need someone to come look it over with you I am 20 mins away..
The year on the data plate really means little. Mine is stamped as 1989 yet it has a serial number that would make it 85 at best. The frame rails are stamped at 04, when it went through total reset, The motor was rebuilt in 2014.

A little off topic but in line with HUMVEE protection.
I always leave mine in drive when I park it. Very few people will know that you have to put it in N to start and think there is a kill switch somewhere.
I have not done anything on the inside yet. One nice thing it that there is a divider between the two seats and the back. My wife is an artist so she has laid claim to this as her new vehicle to go out painting in. You got to love a wife that wants her own HUMVEE
