Wow, I am surprised to see so many people on this thread confusing Jack Tomlin (Tooele, Utah) for Jack and his son (This surplus yard thread)(Tucson, Arizona). I worked with Jack Tomlin before he passed away and helped Bob (executor) with Mike and John to liquidate the contents... Most of...
The type of ether they sell now works poorly. Instead if I need to seat a hard to mount tire I use oxy-acetylene, adjust flame to neutral, pop off the flame and let it blow in the tire.. Restrike...then Voom... Depending on size of the tire depends on how much... Also have air attached to the...
I drive both the military m880's and civilian 70's dodges and I will only use 235-85r16 load range E tires. I keep some of the original 16.5 rims and tires for originality, but for mileage, ride, toughness, grip and front hub and bearing stress nothing beats the 235-85r16's....
My cell phone is back on, I had it temporarily shut off while I was gone on my trip.... If anyone is interested in contacting me send me a message here and I will give you my phone number.
Have a great day everyone!!!
Hello everyone! I am back from my 4 month trip in China. I am currently working on my new home on top of the mountain and am going through my yard sorting out parts to complete a few projects. I still have bunch of gamma goat tires and jeep tires that I am going to sell out since I do not...
The front m35a2 winch is a difficult unit to use, it took a minimum of 3 of us to recover a 1/2 dodge 4x4 that rolled off the road 400 feet down. Broke the shear pin 5 times pulling the small truck up through the boulder field, because it would wedge into the outcrops. Original shearpin was mil...
Well, if your truck was originally built in 54, they did major upgrades to it. I wish I had a picture of the front floorboard where the transmission shift lever comes through with the firewall. That floorboard piece and where it mates to the firewall was slightly different in the early...
FYI, I love talking to anyone about trucks, parts, repairs and stuff... It is just that I am usually out building my depot, working on trucks and stuff to get on the internet... I am more of a face to face - lets talk and work... Lots of the older guys that knew everything are disappearing... I...
I have a m35a2 variant firefighting pump truck which has 11-20 singles on it. I bought it from Bob at Jack tomlins estate in tooele utah. I was only interested because of the singles set up. The rims are original military but different from the dually version and the rear axle hubs stick out...
Just a little hint on those 24v relays. Most manufactures have the silver contact option for them. It is a little more expensive but they handle the spark from engaging and disengaging without pitting as bad... And at $5 to $10 dollars more It is definately worth it... Usually the part number is...
Nice that you bought one... I bought a couple here from Hill AFB (New and dirt cheap) and one wrecker version that had a broken injector pump which cost $685 to rebuild. Unfortunately I don't know much about them since I am only familiar with the older trucks. 2 out of my 4 trucks have the CTIS...
Also I have about 8 m35a1 gassers and a couple dozen m35a2's diesels. Now I have found from experience that some gas versions were converted to diesels and had various adaptor plates and sheet metal body parts made for the conversions. The older gassers did not have the tachometer in the...
Actually I had an old gasser 2 1/2 ton that did not have a VIN # on the frame that we could find. After a week going over the frame with a fine tooth comb, we simply had the UHP submit a new VIN # made for it in Utah...
KingMachine, I see you have been flexing your rear axles alot and in cold weather. Check your rear dogbones (torque rods - metal rods with rubber bushings that hold your axles). This is VERY important especially the top dogbone on the rear rear axle. If the rubber fails the rod can slide off...
I agree to a point Isaac-1, diesel engines are usually designed for 70-80% load for best efficiency, but you would have to run below 40% or less for prolonged periods for this to be an issue and generator versions usually take variable load like this into consideration. You can always hook...
I have a different expandable with both heat and air, It opens both sides but you attach the walls separately from the box in front. I wonder if the heat/cool units are the same?
On the average most homes use 10kw as a basic rule if gas heating is used. It can go up much higher with electric stoves and central air... I always like to run generators 50% of nominal load so not to stress the system and not worry about pulling too much current on the line. If you have...
Slightly above 60Hz is much better than slightly lower than 60Hz. The frequency can go down slightly when the Diesel Engine is under load. Depending on how good the frequency controller can keep the engine speed to 60Hz when the loads change, it is best to keep it slightly higher without load...
