A point on that, we don't always get to park straight on and sometimes the ladder runs us too close to the corner of the truck. We've made it a habit to pull in and turn right before she stops. I think some of that could be changed w/ a slight reshaping of the deck closest to the trailer.
Just...
Looks like it's going to be nice. Are you going to have a pintal that will swivel for those twisted trails? How's the top going to open, sideways or hinged on the front?
That's a nice looking ladder! Adjustable legs and all.
That's the first time I've seen that, 2008, . . . then must have finely gotten tired of climbing up the tailgate and did something about it. Of course by then the trucks were even taller ;)
I would if I was keeping it there, I'm not. As soon as I move this 10' x 20' shed for a friend I'll be pushing out onto the trailer.
Just having it in the bed for the last month has me thinking about "how it was done".
I'm sure there has to be some vets that worked w/ comm boxes in the trucks...
Right, that I know. I have 4 of them. But the shelters that I've seen, 280 sized one, don't seem to have mounts inside or out. When it's in the bed there's no room to put a ladder anywhere. I can't believe that they wanted people climbing up the tailgate step to get in and out.
Must have had a...
That's funny, he couldn't find on docs on it either. It is a sister shelter though, same sat up, same data plates, etc.
But I'm more interested in the general shelter carrying set-up, deuce + shelter = where the heck does the ladder go?
It's marked as an S448. Measures out a bit smaller that an S280, by inches. I've searched for TM's on it and can't even find a reference to it.
So yes, I'm talking about when the bed is full of shelter and there's no other room for things (like all my ammo boxes of necessities ;) )
I know that...
I've wondered about this loads over the last few years, and now that I have a shelter hanging out in the bed I really have been head scratching.
Was there a standard way of mounting the ladder when the bed is filled w/ a shelter. Did it just get transported on the floor of the shelter? Doesn't...
Mounting permanently would be too easy, I'll have to do something difficult 8)
If I had it mounted perm, then I would lose the workability of the trailer, . . . and I would have one heavy base for the shelter.
The plan is to fab some lifting legs and be able to stand it on & off as needed. That...
Right after all that I had a course that I wanted to take over in the `Zona. So I threw some camping gear in the shelter took off for a quick trip, 2 days going, 3 days there, 2 days coming back :)
Now that I had all my crap in the shelter, and wasn't in a hurry to get it out, It was time to...
Removal Time
I pulled the power unit out (as you can see from the last post) and started w/ the foam.
It didn't take me long to relies that my little paint scraper wasn't going to do the trick. Spent 20 mins w/ it and a hammer to take of a small section :-/ After thinking about what would...
I've been searching for shackles for the M796 Bolster trailer. I haven't been able to find any and don't know if I want to use some civy version. It says it the TM that there are 14 of these shackles. After counting out the set up, I'm thinking that the ones they use for the safety chains are...
