Sounds like a good time Mark. I think my wife and I can do the trip. If there is anyone else in the DFW area or someone else coming thru maybe we could caravan the northern route and meet up with you in Big Bend. No point in driving the extra miles to go thru San Antonio for us.
Problem resolved! Took Overdrive's diagram along with the TM's diagram of the 2 valves and was able to finally sort it all out
That's a lot of air lines and at first look it seems overwhelming. Anyway with a proper configuration it's amazing how well everything functions. Previously I had...
Thanks to Overdrive for the diagram and picture of the valves. I definitely do have a configuration problem with my air lines. There was only one line connected between the two valves and from the info from Overdrive it looks like there should be three lines between the two valves. I dont really...
Sorry I didn't see you post earlier. Just got back to the forum today, thanks for the reply though. It would be nice if it were just a plumbing issue, I guess somewhere along the line someone could have jacked it up. I replaced both the park valve and the trailer valve and definitely...
Since bows are being mentioned here I want to jump in with a question or two. When I got my truck there were no bows and no tarp. I really don't even know how the bows attach or anything about them. Where would I find bows to put on the truck, I've already located and purchased the cover but...
Definitely depends on who you get. I've been to the same NAPA for parts, most of the guys are worthless. Happened to get one guy who was interested in military vehicles, knew all about NSN and how to cross reference parts. He's the one that got me the various valves and rebuild kit. You might...
I just replaced the 3 valves above the drivers wheel and ordered the repair kit for the tractor valve yesterday. All thru NAPA. No problem ordering the parts......
Still looking for more advice if possible. Now it seems the leaks I have when the system is pumping up are at the rear emergency glad hand as well as the vent pipe that is located behind the grill near the radiator. When the system is pumping, air is bleeding from these two locations and it...
The rear had been removed by the towing company and he said he had a special tool. I didn't have a removal tool but just used a flat head screwdriver to slightly pry with. The front one came out extremely easy. No hammering required
I definitely don't know what I am doing but have been faithfully reading, studying, asking etc. Truck has been chocked, I removed the front driveshaft, the rear had been removed for transport. I didn't want any chance of the truck moving when I cranked it up hence removal of front shaft. The...
Well I'm not actually sure if they are released or not. I currently have the drive shafts dropped and the truck hasn't been moved since I had it delivered. So I really don't know if they release or not. Just installed a new CTIS controller and that system seems to function now. Just started it...
Thanks for the explanation on the valves. Any clue as to why there are apparent leaks in the brake valve until I press and hold the yellow valve? As soon as I press it the air noise and leaks stop......
Hard to say since this is my first experience with airbrakes. But I suppose it feels a bit spongy to me when I press on it. Haven't found the thread yet with the treadle valve repair kit info but still looking.
Thanks for the reply. I think the problem may be in the treadle valve. I have already replaced both dash controls valves. Can't seem to locate a source for the WABCO treadle. Do you know if there are rebuild kits or new replacement for the entire valve?
Still working on my new acquisition and having some problems with the air brake system. Read through the TM's but not finding my problem listed. The air compressor seems ok, starts pumping up immediately but there are air leaks that sound like are coming from the brake pedal manifold and also...
