I posted something in the conversations forum a few days ago, but didn't receive much feedback, so I will try here hoping that this may be a more targeted audience.
I am working with the Georgia/Atlanta Veteran's Day Parade organizers to put together a really strong MV motor pool for this...
This won't help with securing the doors or rear hatch, but when I acquired my HMMWV second-hand, it had a kill switch installed on the body panel hidden just behind the pillar beside the drivers left knee. It's not rocket science, but also wouldn't expect folks to look there.
I never really...
I had this same issue with mine years ago. First off, check the fluid in the PS reservoir. Refill with Dex III if low.
Second, check all your connections. I found that the inlet hose attachment on the PS cooler that sits on top of the radiator is sometimes hard to attach, and If it has a...
I have been asked to secure vehicle volunteers for the Atlanta Veteran's Day Parade November 8, 2014. The focus of the parade this year is saluting WWII veterans, and we are trying to have at least 2 WWII Veteran's from each service to ride in the parade. Ideally, we would love to have WWII...
I have never seen an MCS-L before or the FFCS-L. They aren't even shown in the TM that I have.
Only thing I could think to recommend is review any literature you have on those or reach out to Cobham to see if they are willing to help.
When you say "light MCS", is this the box that has only a CX-13470 connector on left and right sides, volume knob only on top, and headset cable coming out of the front? I am assuming that you also have a regular MCS that has the three dials, two toggle switches, change button, and digital...
I am sure you have an answer by now, but it is J501. Hopefully the pic I am about to insert shows up as more than a thumbnail! It is a cabling/interconnect schematic from an old TM. If it is not big enough to read, feel free to PM me for a pdf copy.
Almost five and a half years after you post your question, I wanted to let you know that I have a copy of the manual. I can send you a pdf if you PM me with your contact info.
I am in Marietta, and I would like to go, but I highly doubt I could get my HMMWV reinsured for on-the-road driving by then. If I can get it insured and tag updated by Thurs morning, I could join. I will send you a PM to inquire about your insurance agent. Maybe your agent has a better way...
I found a 1960 manual for the AN/PIQ-5, not the January 1969 manual that seems to be more prolific. The 1960 manual shows an adaptor/splitter cable, which it indicates may be designated MX-2974. It essentially allows the user to command two bullhorns with one mic. I do not see a reference to...
I got tired of the C-2298s slinging around on the ends of the 4723s, didn't find great places to mount them in the HMMWV without making access to the radio and other accessories pretty difficult. I found some radiac mounts for sale, and I must say, these are ideal for mounting C-2298s. Perfect...
I atually think NDT gets the title belt... 21 years as I count it. I thought they were only released in the 1996/1999? sale. How did you get one back in '91?
Had mine since November 2010 - The best birthday present I ever got... for myself. Was configured as a 2-seater with the hardtop shell. Hated how it looked. I have since converted it to a 4 seater soft top with intercom. One day it will have the slantback, hard top, 4 x-doors, and a turret...
It would be a head turner, I think it looks a lot better with the doors on than off.
With the doors off, all the camo on those narrow lines (A pillar, B pillar, top) are distracting.
to follow up on the questions about cleaning the contacts, I have two AM-1780s that I can't get to work fully. The relays click when the PTT buttons are activated, but no sidenote is heard (in the first AM-1780), and a sidenote is heard (but no audio) on the second one. I know it's not the...
It took me a while (partly because I had to get out of tax season), but here is what I did to get the HMMWV back up and running.
I created a grounding harness from 10 gauge wire, and connected the glow plug controller, electronic control box, engine block, alternator, and instrument panel to...
I am troubleshoot my HMMWV glow plug problem. I finished driving it on a multi-hour road march a couple of weekends ago. I left it sitting since. I was trying to start it a couple of days ago, and noticed that the glow plug light would instantaneously go out and the relays would not cycle.\...
