I realize this is an older post but hoping someone can lead me to some help on obtaining one of the mentioned, new controllers? I just recently bought a slick, rust free M1031 with 32,000 miles. Tight truck but the generator is not dependable. Sometimes works perfect. Sometimes won’t govern at...
I realize this is an old post, but just bought a nice low miles / low hours M1031 and having trouble getting the governor to work. If you could email me the TMs that would be so helpful. My email is rossbartling@yahoo.com.
😊
Thanks for the guidance there Setoyota. An A1 is what I thought I was buying anyway, but seller told me it was a 1967, not 62 so just started wondering. About the only thing it needs is wiring help. Harnesses are not in very good shape and I would really like to replace them all. So far, having...
Sorry for delay in posting some post recovery pics. Had an unlucky turn of events. Was just fixing to crawl under with a creeper to get ome under chassis pics (to show how remarkably solid and rust free it is) when I tripped, fell and broke my left arm: main bone up by shoulder. Kind of out of...

Well, came home with her. It was, for the most part, about what it appeared to be. Mechanically, seems to be pretty good I think. It started and ran pretty well. Might need bit of carb adjustment. Oil and coolant looked good. It drove nicely. No drivetrain or suspension noises. Steering...
Thanks to everyone for their comments and advice. I'll be going (with trailer) to look at it Friday. I'll crawl under and try to confirm whether it's been cut or not. But, unless I discover something structurally or mechanically contrary to how it has been represented, I will probably bring it...
Have an opportunity to trade for what seller tells me is a 1967 Ford M151A1. Doesn't sound like he has owned that long and says he isn't sure if it was cut or not. I will go look at it next week but hoped to get you guys input first. I have and do own many MVs but have had no experience with...
Just some follow up and thanks to all who posted and helped. Got the plunger guide and delivery valve spacer from AMBAC (cost = $15.80 plus shipping) and reassembled IP this morning. Got back on genny and it fired right up. Sounds great and makes electricity. Yeah!!!
Thanks Chris. But, I went ahead and called AMBAC and caught them before they left. For $15.80 plus shipping have the plunger guide and spacer on the way.
Okay, got it all apart. Plunger was quite stuck but after a hot ATF bath (thanks GimpyRobb) and brass punch it freed up. To my surprise, the plunger guide was not broken. But, is is buggered up a little. Seems that the plunger succeeded in turning about 40 degrees in the guide which is where I...
Tried to attach pics to last post (twice) but didn't work. Gonna try again. As to plunger coming out the bottom, that seems to be what step #10 in the AMBAC manual instructed. Seemed that only its o-ring in the drive gear bore was holding it in. On your instruction to remove the fuel stop I...
Upon closer inspection, I think that the plunger is indeed stuck in the spring compressed position. I had thought it was free because the tappet was free at the bottom. However, I think it was just free play in the bore. Looking from the top into the delivery valve hole the top of the plunger...
Update: finally got head separated from the body. I'm on step 12 from the AMBAC manual which is where the special tool and arbor press is called for.
First question: it says "With plunger in its highest position"? I'm attaching a pic of how my pump is presented right now. I'm unclear here...
Okay, got it pulled and on bench. Didn't match diagram in the TM. But, finally found an online manual from AMBAC that does and proceeding. I'm at point of trying to get the hydraulic head seperated from the main body and having no luck yet. Manual says "in some instances, it may be necessary to...
Thanks for comment, Keith. So no matter how the pump is removed and irrespective of whether the engine crank is moved while IP is out or not I will still need to reinstall the pump with the alignment pin (1/8th" drill bit) in the pump and the crank aligned to PC of #1 compression stroke (either...
Hey Guys, just bought two trailer mounted MEP002's with ASK enclosures. Both appear to be in excellent condition. One I've started on shows 410 hours. Model year 1991. Fuel tank was about 3/4 full and smelled stale but not too gummy. Oil looked new and overfilled - an oddity later explained by...
