I came across another problem.
The vast majority of these sets had engines full of water. We must realize this winter has been brutal in Maryland. There are very real possibilities some have cracked blocks and broken parts from the water freezing and thawing...

I was doing some research, and I realized I've actually visited 5 of the 8 known survivors on display around the US. I guess I need to go out and "collect" the other 3 some day.

Yeah...I'm not concerned about the one we got that is locked up, I can get the parts for the motor readily and affordable enough. Unfortunately the unit LOOKED great in the pics and have <100 hours so we paid a bit of a premium.
The one that was on fire and looks like a bad gen side is even...
You need to open the oil drain to start. You will get 2-4 quarts of water.
Then you need to pull the manifolds to get out whatever water you can. Then you need to pull the injectors to be able to put some lube or solution in the cylinder.
Then you need to try to crank the engine over by...
That's actually a better report than what I was thinking...

Well, we didn't get as lucky with the 1st set we tried to start. Same issue, water in the exhaust. Filled the rear cylinder. A milky mess came out of the oil drain...after about 3 quarts of water. We sucked what we could from the exhaust and then proceeded to ATF the cylinder.
This is...

Maybe Turbo will wind up with a spare filter housing from the "fire" unit. That SUCKS.

Hey man, what's the special sauce?
I picked one up today and it was missing the exhaust flapper (as just about everyone on the entire base seemed to be!). I'm assuming I have water in at least one cylinder. I hope I'm as lucky as you in the long haul.
It was a rough lot it seemed. Things...
There was some serious competition over those rims at the last moment! Either they are made of a special alloy that scraps well, or someone knows what they fit and has a plan.

We appreciate the tip on the brake fluid. I, personally, would have never known that.
I don't think the truck was drained of any fluids. This isn't a military turn-in. This is an old site truck used around a civilian facility. I've seen it parked in many different lots over the past few...
I got a chance to check this truck out for TurboJoe and I have NO experience with MV's like this. I have operated my share of Paladins and Abrams, but never an older 5-ton. I work at the site the truck was at, but it was behind a gate of sorts.
When we turned the ignition on, of course the...
