I have hauled 10 tons of gravel quite often on a single rear axle chevy dump truck, just don't go very fast. 8 tons feels like a reasonable load. the neighbor has done same amount on a deuce with 2 axles and it looks like it handles it easier. but that much seems like a maximum and have to...
out of balence tires do that for me, done a lot of driving an old chevy dump truck with 9 x 20's and certain tires seem to slip a bit sideways easily on the split rims.
I'm givin up, it's junk, the hydraulic head of the IP that is, with closer inspection the gear is turning on the shaft, it's stuck for good, won't come apart without usin a BIG hammer. will have to garner some help and go tow that parts truck home, and hope it's got a good one.
Ok, I got as far as purging all air up to the injector hydraulic head, cranked the engine some more and still nothing comes out the injector line. So, I decide something's gotta be wrong with it, removed the whole injector pump from the engine and started disassembling it.
the throttling...
OK, I downloaded that LDS 465 manual, looks like just what I needed to figure out what lines are going where. Looks like an older engine in the pictures than what I have but close enough. had some difficulty getting it to function, foxit kept saying, "......has developed a problem and...
the shutoff plunger moves very easily, slightly springloaded open, and has a wire tied to it run through the firewall and a screwdriver tied on the other end. fancy substitute for a frozen control cable  something I gotta fix but it can wait till it's running and get it in the shop.
Got that fixed, and the pump wires corroded off the switch fixed, but now, how do I get the fuel to flow through the injector pump? like bleed the air out. just crank it forever? I got pressure at the water bleed on bottom of fuel filter inside wheel well but nothing comes out a...
I think.
this truck was being used by a logger, quit running and was sold to a neighbor over the hill, he tried to start it using some gas in the intake and it blew out a head gasket, he got a set and put a new one in but didn't finish putting the top end together, had it a year and...
I've been thinking about one for my M52, color dosn't matter because I'm not trying to restore and make it look perfect, (if I were I'd start with a truck that wasn't full of dents and bruses) It had a crude plywood top that was half rotten and I didn't keep it.
Just need something to...
RE: There I was. Minding my own business. Boom brake failure
I had brake failer in the old chevy dump truck going down a mountain a few years ago, at least it was empty and I could gear down, but with first and second unsyncronized I couldn't get below 3rd. there was a T road crossing at...
so ya like scenery, and it looks like the good bike is built for less than perfect roads, if it twas me I'd get some of those state topo maps with all the backroads on them and do some mountain back roads on the way through. I've done that with a fancy SUV taking a friend (retired doctor)...
RE: pictures
will have to find a good old beat up trailer to match, then we'll use it for whatever it's good for, hauling hay from field to storage would be a commen job in summer. ( I'm off to cut some more tomorrow.) or hauling the dozer around on local jobs.
Found used military tires...
the only little quirk I've heard of in running a stationary unit is bridging of fuel in the hopper, a moving vehicle gives enough jiggling to shake it down most of the time and if it bridges it'll loose power. I thought it through and decided a taller hopper with no sholders in it along with...
Hey! yers looks identical to the one I have with a missing ID plate. grill bar pattern the same etc. what are the details on it? I'm trying to get as close as posible with an identification. most of the ones I looked at over at the sawmill had air cans on the left, the diamond T and...
pictures
camera is a cheap one and i arn't the greatest at usin it but we'll try, and the sun and shadows under the trees makes for not so clear a picture.
RE: water
have to sonic split it at 42.8kHz then mix with air and run direct in a gas engine, here's some info on a 1930's patent for a water carb, notice he was creating AC with a motor driven switch to run the thing. http://keelynet.com/energy/garrett.htm (danger notice, if ya work on...
was just delving into history and found this topic. I built one last fall on my dodge truck and got it running. But afterwards decided I'd rather have something with less required time to process fuel, as it all has to be dry and cut up to no more than 4" chunks. + I like a nice powerful...
If the VIN plate is the one to the top left of the glove box, it's missing. I was told there's an identical truck at a sawmill that sells a few Mil. trucks nearby, I'll see if it's still there and get some info from it. The engine is labeled Multifuel, (oops, forgot to wright down the...
