That doesn't look like the one I have on my truck.
That might be for a civi rig.
It's actually 2 pieces
See if you can look up

My Buddy has a 2 post.
It's been at least 8 years now, can't remember how we lifted it. I do remember lifting body off of frame with it and rolling frame out from under it.
I'm going to see him tomorrow maybe he will remember how we did it
You say the fuel gauge is wacky. What's that mean exactly.
What have you looked at related to the fuel gauge on your truck?
Have you dropped the tank and cleaned the screen on the pick up / float?
Which style of fuel sender is in tank?
The one with the float arm or the new style without an...
Well since you asked for my .02 worth here it is.
There are basically two groups of people into these trucks.
Those that want to keep them as close to original and those that don't care.
Both groups have people on a budget and people with deep pockets or that work in the fabrication business...
No you don't have to upgrade the transmission to a 4L80E.
I would consider it if I were you however.
Like Mogman said. you don't have to take out everything at once. but you can.
Having a park position in your truck to me is a big plus .
You can add a park pawl to your existing transmission if...
You can take the entire power plant out (engine ,trans, transfer case, in one piece ) without removing the body.
If I had the motor out I'd replace it with a 6.5 NA before I put the 6.2 back in it.
I guess it will depend on how often its driven.
I have an 86 HMMWV.
I've owned it for 20 years.
Repowered it with a 6.5 N/A about 5-6 years ago.
But it's not a daily driver so at the rate I'm going it's going to outlive me.
Got a 98 Ram pickup I bought brand new. I have put about 60 k on it in...
That defiantly sounds interesting as a HMMWV owner.
Also may I suggest that if your planning on trying to re create or build a tribute truck try and do it in such away that it truly honors those that
lived and died in them. If your going to go as far as naming it after a Vietnam era truck...
Kind of hard to shoot out of without a turret.
That's why I bought the truck. If I wanted a HMMWV without A turret I would have bought a different varient.
The most important question that only you will be able to answer is.
When it comes time for you to sell it.
How much you want to get for it...
No it means some insurance companies won't insure it or will charge you more if it's not garaged.
Kind of like Jetbike above's experience. Some HOA's will have a problem if it's not garaged as well.
Just trying to make sure he does his homework.
