ah yes ! The second MV! I was there facing that decision years ago...........
The last couple years I have actually been trying to sell a few of them, to get the fleet maintenance time down a little
manual steering tip:
they don't turn easy with foot on the brake.
with foot off brake and rolling they are easier to turn.
In the picture of the 77 with power steering, those are 36" humvee tires, notice the nut on the steering arm, it is shiny because if you turn too far to the right it will...
77 M880 with power steering. Only change was steering box with pitman arm.
78 W400 with factory power steering
as you can see the mounting to the frame rail is different as well as the drag link (relay arm) and steering column.
Vin vs year
W24BE7Sxxxxxx is a 77 w200
W41CF8Sxxxxxx is a 78...
Looks good.
It has a 77 grill & blinker set up
76 vin - W24BE6Sxxxxxx
77 vin - W24BE7Sxxxxxx
Also appears the M882 bed has been replaced, as I don't see any indication of the 3 antenna mounts on the bed sides.
for your auto parts store purchases it is a 318 powered W200 with a 3500lb front...
I will go look at my 78 today to confirm, as I believe the pictured unit is 78 or newer standard rotation.
The 75-77 set up uses a reverse rotation steering box.
To make the pictured ps unit work you would also need the drag link & the steering column also.
since M880's didn't have power steering, probably not.
Is it a picture of one that is for sale or one you have?
If it's one you have, if it bolts up & turns the right way, it is the correct one.
Too hard to tell anything from the picture provided
'cause that's just what they did at the factory. I have a 3/4 ton 8 lug 10 bolt front that had 6 lug hubs put on to use 6 lug wheels, the 14bolt semi floater rear, that took a lathe & a mill for that 8 to 6 lug conversion.
It takes air, fuel & spark to fire. Replacing parts before determining which one is missing isn't very efficient.
for me the hot start issue has been you need to give it a little peddle (fuel) to fire it up.
I am getting reports here in Michigan that the Secretary of State is canceling registrations and recalling titles for some later model MVs, if title not returned within 15 days of notice to be changed to ORV title, the title will be canceled.
It appears they are going after cetain MVs by way...
