    Axle question

These axles are quite simular to the M135 / M211 series axles. Can the internals of the newer ones (27 spline) be swapped into the housing of the WWII ones (10 spline) ? or, Are the housings the same? Reason, broken G506 rear end & the M135 / M211 axles are easy to come by

Distance from back of cab to front axle?

Don't have a M37 to measure. Data tag shows 53" from center of front axle to the center of gravity which looks close to the back of the cab (viewing the data plate) anyway, I'm thinking of transplanting a body & that measurement is needed to see if this will work.

    Really loud on cold start

'84 M1009 60k on the clock Apologize in advance if there's an easy to find thread on this issue, I searched, because I know it must have been covered here. On cold starts, this things is scary loud clanking. Quiets down after the fast idle(<-- wrong terminology) kicks off. Once warm it runs...

Perry Point MD M880 in civilian colors... Anybody been to Perry Point VA center????

The M880 is the same as a civi 3/4 ton. That being said a dressed & lubed 6bt can go about 1100lbs where the stock 318 comes in about 700 lbs. So we are looking at 400 maybe 500 extra pounds depending on trans choice. The D44-8F is rated @ 3500 lbs. The plow & bumper hanging off the front of my...

    ATF and filter question

The only flush systems I've seen do not use pressure, other than the transmissions pump. The trans cooler lines get connected to it and as the old fluid pumps in, it pushes the new fluid into the return line, once clean fluid is observed pumping out, you shut off the car & reconnect the lines...

    ATF and filter question

Change the fluid & filter. If it starts to slip it's because it needed to be rebuilt. You didn't drive it with "its barely showing on the dipstick." running them low on fluid is a real quick path to a rebuild.
